Glad, you are right to point out that hockey has a huge following in Northern Europe and Russia. Let's also not think that hockey is not important in the States. To some (few) it is a much more important sport than baseball. I like baseball quite a bit, but hockey has always been my favorite sport. I learned to skate when I was three and played serious competitive hockey for most of my life.

But what is environmental efficiency? What is a legitimate cause? Is it legitimate or efficient to slow down the economy for no reason whatsoever?

The cause, which is not Algore's, does not involve slowing the economy for no reason whatsoever. Progress requires vision and once enacted visionary plans take time to grow. It is natural that there is an economic lag during a time of transition. In terms of purpose, we can quickly examine our reliance on limited fossil fuels. We know that we will at some point need to look to renewable sources of energy to power our lives. With this in mind, it is intelligent to seek to develop technologies that will enable us to move beyond our reliance on the limited resources that we currently use. This issue can also be examined in terms of national security policy. The Western world currently relies on foreign, often hostile, nations for a significant portion of our fuel. If we are able to incorporate other cleaner sources of fuel into our economy our foreign policy decisions can be less tied to the needs, whims, and desires of foreign states. As such, our foreign policy can move beyond the problems that we currently face in the middle east.

Maybe people should consider what they put into their bodies on a daily basis rather than advocating that we buy cars which nobody wants. These global warming advocates will die from the food they eat before anything released into the environment kills them. Perhaps we should consider forcing companies to abandon the chemicals, dyes and high fructose corn syrup among other things that is contained in processed foods and other foods. The explosion of childhood obesity and diabetes is more of a threat to human existence than this global warming hoax.

I see alot of fat people and I see alot of old people. But, I don't see alot of fat old people. Why? Because fat people do not live very long.

then let me spell it out for you, ita: the "legit cause" i am refering to is what i put after the hyphen: "living within our means and in a manner that we can sustain ourselves as a living entity in perpetuity". he does little in advancing that cause because, as we know, he doesnt walk the talk....his talk. being the contradiction that he is, it results in many people dismissing or diminishing what i believe to be real problems in our environment, such as pollution and general degredation of the environment and our natural resources. further, when it gets roped in and becomes a convenient platform for a political party or agenda, it becomes even more detrimental since you inherently lose the attention and ears of many of the people supporting the opposition. fact is, pollution and environmental degredation are not left wing, center or right wing. unfortunately, though, people want to make it out that way.

whether 'climate change' is real or not is not the issue for me. its not an issue because each time you (or like-minded people) claim it as being a fraud categorically, you are making those claims under an ignorant pretence. by ignorant i mean that you are not an expert on the subject nor are you collecting the empirical evidence yourself to make a conclusive and definative case. likewise, neither can i for the same reasons. generally, the opposing positions, as i see it, have been created out of subscribing to the rhetoric spewed by both sides, primarily through a political platform. we all know how sincere politicians are, right? i mean you yourself engaged the topic and within no time you aligned it with specific political leanings and claims of relieving you of your 'freedom'. i'm not basing my belief of a sustainable lifestyle on political leanings, it's based on my personal character and worldview. so maybe youre right, we are not on the same page.

if you dont believe in climate change or global warming or whatever popular tag being used, that's your business and perogative. as i already said, for me its a personal decision to adopt a certain way of life. it matters little to me if it is aligned with the "kooks" you claim to be marxist or democrats or whatever. just like you when you say that you dont condone the creation of environmental pollution. personal belief.

really? where did you read that? i'm pretty sure i said, "what i believe to be real problems in our environment, such as pollution and general degredation of the environment and our natural resources".

What?? You must be brain dead to even think Al Gore (who took credit for inventing the internet) has any credibility on this issue of global warming!! This is a guy who has his own private jet and a monthly $10,000 energy bill!!! Does Al Gore have any credibility on this issue?? I agree with Ita on the basis that he is not a socialist. Forza Freedom and lower taxes. Forza no more government formaggio.
