Beckham will only be at San Siro for three months, insists Milan chief

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has reiterated David Beckham will only stay at the club for three months before returning to the Los Angeles Galaxy. Beckham is to join the Italian outfit on loan on January 7 and Rossoneri fans - including the son of club owner Silvio Berlusconi, Pier Silvio - have expressed the hope that the 33-year-old might remain for a longer spell.

But Galliani said: 'I want to make clear that the club does not have any future projects for him (Beckham). 'All we know is that he will come to Dubai (winter break) and then he will return to Galaxy in March, besides that nothing else.'

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder, who was not included in Fabio Capello's England squad for tonight's international friendly in Germany, is under contract with the LA Galaxy until July 2012.

I have never called for 4-2-3-1 last season or before because we did not have players or the depth for it. Now we do and it suits us the most. Pato's not a natural target man, I agree, but not starting him for shit like that is bullcrap

Adams expecting defensive Italians – Pompey boss fears Milan could play for the draw

Portsmouth manager Tony Adams believes AC Milan might play for a goalless draw when the teams meet in the Uefa Cup on Thursday. Pompey are scrapping for points in Group E after losing their opening group match 3-0 to Portuguese outfit Sporting Braga, while Milan are virtually through after collecting maximum points from their two games. While Adams is thrilled to welcome the Serie A giants to Fratton Park he believes it is more important to retain their top-flight status in years to come to ensure fans there are more glamour ties in the pipeline.

"It's probably the most prestigious game this club will ever play in," said Adams. "What we did last season, winning the FA Cup was amazing and this occasion is the reward for that. But I'm saying that although it is great to be playing AC Milan the most important games for us as a club are in the Premiershit. We are all about building foundations. This is our first season in Europe and I would like to think that in five years' time we'll get the AC Milans here every year but the only way you can do that is by staying in the Premiershit."

With the Rossoneri all but through to the next stage of the competition Adams believes they could opt to play for the draw on the South Coast. Superstars Ronaldinho and Kaka could well be rested, but the former Arsenal and England captain knows Carlo Ancelotti has a wealth of talent at his disposal.

"How are Milan going to approach it? I'm not so sure you won't see a few of their squad players come over and play. Ronaldinho and Kaka? I'm not sure they are going to come but sometimes you can get a great reaction from what might be seen as an under-strength team. A few of their kids are pretty good any way. Maybe (Philippe) Senderos (on loan from Arsenal) might get a game, (Andriy) Shevchenko (from Chelsea) might play.

"Knowing the Italians, I can see them just locking it up, just come for a nil-nil, but if we can get a goal we might well turn them over.

"Whatever, it will be a great night for the fans. We're going to give them a game, throw everything at them. And there are a few players at this club I need to give games - give them the chance to fight for contracts. It's a reward for what they did last year and an opportunity to be part of the club's future. This game and the one in Wolfsburg could be ideal for that but I'm not taking the competition lightly."

i just remembered that kaka' will miss our next game away to palermo because of his yellow card the other day. i think hes collected 5 now.

it could be a blessing in disguise, we'll probably play with 2 strikers. but then we thought pirlo getting injured would be a blessing too, but i dont think we've changed one bit.
