aye, i watched the match, roma won 3-0 on goals by aquilani (another good long range drive), giuly (probably was offside) and totti. the final two goals were scored in the last ten minutes of the game.

a pretty solid performance once again from roma, and a pretty entertaining one at that. however, siena played some good ball themselves, and were it not for some horrible finishing, may have been able to come away with a result. still, i don't think this team will get relegated, since they can play quite well when they want to.

giuly was actually very good, had many chances, and scored one. what a pick up by roma this guy was. he will add a lot of bite to the attack. it's hard to pick out any one player who stood out, as everyone looked pretty solid. siena's manninger was the one who sucked the most, and looked bad on all three roma goals.

Jamoldo, we played well, but not as well as I had hoped. I thought the scoreline was a little bit cruel to Siena, especially since after the first half a tie score would have been fair. Aquilani was great today. The goal was nice and he almost did it again with a great shot from way out but it came of the bar. He also set up Guily for the second goal, although it did look like it was inadvertent. De Rossi quietly had a nice defensive game. As for Totti, although he scored, I thought he had a below par game. His shots were off target, and it seemed like he was really frustrated out there. Vucinic cannot play on the left, and I hope this trend stops in the next round when Perrotta comes back into the starting lineup. Guily would play on either the left or right, and Taddei playing the opposite side. I'll post the goals in the MM thread as soon as I get them.

I really do not think we played all that well to be honest. We had a decent start, but we allowed Siena to come at us, seemingly at will. We were damn lucky to get out of this one with 3 points. If Siena had any finishers in that lineup, then we could have lost this game. This was still a game in the 82nd minute. We seem to have some organizational issues at the back, but hopefully that will be resolved when we have fit players who are not playing out of position. I don't know what to make of Marco Cassetti. At times he is very good, then there are times when he looks pretty slow and confused. He did provide some cover in the center of the defense today when we looked spread out and exposed. Mexes had to cover the entire area much of the time today. I thought he played a very good game and De Rossi was solid.

As much as I really like Giuly, I think there are still some chemistry issues to work out between he and Totti. This is not a criticism. But, I saw on several ocassions today where Giuly simply did not anticipate Totti's passes and the ball fell to empty space.

Vucinic did not play very well and Taddei was pretty horrible. Doni played very well and he seems more relaxed this season. We have a week off to get some people healthy and work on getting better. Then, we have a CL match on the 19th of September.

Still, this is not the first team lineup and given the oppressive heat in Rome today, I'll take the 3 points and go home. I was surprised not to see Cicinho today however.

Yeah...totally agree. I was a bit disappointed with the game even though we get the 3 points needed.
It wasn't a great game to watch compared to the two last game from Roma....The super Cup and the opening against Palermo.
At times, I really thought that Siena would score and we would fail to get the win.
I was thinking about last season....when our team were controlling the game but sometimes failed to get the 3 points against a smaller team. I don't mean Siena is that weak but sometimes it looks that Roma doesn't really give 100 %. They just play without motivation....is it just me who always expect to see Roma playing their better football or is it just that the team get more experience and know when to keep the ball and wait for the opponents to come out???
I dont know....I'll read the papers about the game tomorrow. For sure, Siena didn't deserve to take 3 goals without scoring any. We've been quite lucky today.
Anyway.... we can't expect always the best from everyone. That said, it is true that once more Doni had a very good game, coming out when needed, always at the right place. Nothing to say and undoubtely the best player so far in both games.

Im trying to watch it on seriea.tv, but Im not having success right now.

Good final scoreline however. Ill go watch barca now then i guess. Let's see if I can lure henry over during the winter mercato.

Lure Henry? Why not go for a good player and try lure Robbie Keane? Just imagine an attacking line-up of Keano, The LitM and Totti. Better yet – Keano, The LitM, Totti and me. Wow. Even tho I'm a natural centre-half you'd have to agree that four-pronged attack would put Barca's 'Fantastic Four' to shame.

Didn't see the game today, was at the All-Ireland Hurling Final. Italiamia, will you get a chance to watch it over there? Kilkenny beat Limerick by 6 points, dissapointing The Treaty Men didn't do it (they're supporters are lunatics and wouldn't look out of place in a Curva), but Kilkenny are the best team and fully deserved their win.

Downloading the Siena game now (full-match now in the MM thread), good positive result, not to mention a correct prediction by me, and very important to keep picking up maximum points in these early fixtures.

imperatore albertus aquilanus maximus. another amazing performance. giuly and doni are also honorable mentions for todays game. it wasnt the best performance but we still looked composed for most of the game. siena played us tough with virtually everyone behind the ball throughout the game but our talent was just too much for them. yes, i have to agree, litm didnt look all that impressive and as tuna mentioned, i think we may start to see less of him once perrotta is fully fit.
