Fonz, as far as Perrotta not getting the start, I have read conflicting reports on probable lineups for Siena. La gazzetta and goal.com Italia has Cicinho and Giuly starting while DataSport and Tg.com has Perrotta and Cassetti. Then, forza-roma.com has Giuly and Cassetti saying that Perrotta will start from the bench. Forza-roma.com reports that their lineup 'will be' confirmed by Spalletti.
I also read on forza-roma.com that Juan is ready to make his Serie A debut.
Haven't been around much I know, been up to my tits with work, but now that Maro is off having his final fling (cough cough) with Yolande in the hill sides of romantic Tuscany before marrying her english cousin, I should hope to be around more and keep an eye on all ye troublemakers. Italiamia – and those others who mentioned it – I seen a few pages back ye have been still having trouble with the screen layout and text scrolling issue? Sorry I never got round to looking into it. Did you manage to find a solution? I don't think it has anything to do with the banner as some mentioned, as it was the same before that was added, so it may have something to do with the skin, as was also suggested. I have set the default skin to be 'Morpheus Red', so I thought everyone is seeing that? If not, the old skin of 'Sub-Silver' may be conflicting with the style of the Morpheus Red and causing problems, so everyone should switched to that and see if it fixes it. If not PM me.
Bloody hell, where to start. Wank United. Fuck em. Fuck em good. Fuck em proper. English cnut fuckers gonna feel some REVENGEEEEEEE! Oh yeah. Two words: The LitM... he shall become the destroyer of all things english, and exact revenge of the most relentless kind for all romanisti. Totti and De Rossi and Mancini and co may chip in as well, but its all my boy.
If I may be serious for a moment, gentlemen, I was rightly peeved off the other day when, after the CL draw had been made, the main headlines everywhere all over the english media was of Man Utd returning to Rome after the 'incidents' last time. It was disgusting to see, just disgusting, and almost pushed me to planting my fist through my 40-inch plasma TV and my brand-spanking-new 24-inch 4GB-Mhz-RAM 750GB hard-drive iMac. In case you don't know what I'm waffling about, the english media were hyping (no!) this up as rematch of the events we seen the last time in the Olimpico with the travelling United support, and how they were "mistreated" and "wrongfully attacked by police and Roma hooligans" (in the Curva Nord, no less). There's no doubt the Roma fans were guilty of wrong-doing in throwing stuff at the wankers, but it failed to mention how the United fans were I]also[/I] throwing stuff at the Roma fans, or how they affronted and provoked the riot police, or how they organised and proceeded in attacking the enclosed Roma fans in the return-leg at Old Trafford. It just makes me sick that the media put a spin on it and turned into a hooligan circus of uncivilised and primitive Roma fans and authorities who always cause trouble and are at complete fault. The best way to answer that shite is simply to beat them (on the pitch, that is...) and show them the real Roma, not that crap we seen last time in OT, and I really really really really really hope and pray we stuff those cnuts in both games. A tough group all round, Chicken K and SportWings will be tough, but we have what it takes to come through with that last game to spare. Then, we unleash The LitM, and all those non-believer shall bow down and beg for mercy and he's conquers all...
So we sold Nonda? Good. We didn't sell Kuffour? Bad (very feckin bad hy) – I presume he's been released, or is he still on our books? If there is a God (and there is – he wears number 9), it will be the former. Good for Rosi to get some loan, but whats this off an option to buy? And finally, Alverez is gone, which is the equivilant of us signing Messi.
And WTF?!? We signed Bogdani and then didn't signed Bogdani? Bah, anyone with Bog in their name doesn't deserve Roma anyway... Nah he would of been a good addition, as like I've said, I would be a bit concerned of our lack of back-up for Totti and God. Bogdani would of done nicely, Rigano would of done nicely, but as it is, I wonder if Chris and others still think its a good move to have loaned out Okaka...? For me, he would of been suitable to have in our squad as back-up, but now we have no one.
Hillary Duff is fucking ugly. And Grasso was just lying to impress Glad.
Watched the European SuperCup, few notes:
• Pirlo is a truely amazing player, and I know that most fans of Serie A know that, but I still feel that he is somewhat underated and not really appriciated enough of what he can do around Europe. And in particular, I do mean in England, which is no surprise really. Some of the passes he was pinging around there tonight were sheer class, and a great ball for Janko and a stunning, stunning goal, reminiscent of that Totti goal v Sampdoria.
• Dani Alves is certainly NOT worth €20 or €30 or whatever bleedin million.
• Dida is still the Dida we have all seriously cringed at times. He is still dodgy, and is still a very big reliability to Milan and their ambitions of success, and if anything he is only getting worse. To me, it raises the question again – something which is a mystery to me and something I can't understand – is why Milan don't buy Marco Amelia? He is a talented young keeper, one who is available for transfer at the right price, and its not like Milan have spent a fortune this summer, so surely they should have invested in him. It could, and probably will, come back to haunt Ancellotti that he did not invest in a new 'keeper.
• Very nice touch by Kaka, who after scoring the (rebound) peno, pointed at his Puerta jersey (they all wore them) and signaled to the Sevilla fans. Not only a decent player but a decent bloke too (Seedorf tried to do a similar gesture when comin off but he was just copying Kaka and looked silly).
• Even though this is me first time seein them in action this season, Milan still play some of the best football in Europe. Yes, they perhaps are a bit suspect at the back, and certainly are very suspect in dealing with high balls at the back (due in large part to Dida, naturally), but still some of the football they produce is just lovely to watch. Its funny, last season nearly everyone was writing them off, saying they are too old and too slow and too old and too smelly and too old as well, but yet they deservedly won the Champions League. This season, again, I'm hearing the same thing – from the media to other pundits (both outside Italy) and from friends – they are too old, they are too slow, but if it ain't broke don't fix it, and with the addition of Emerson, who will fit in nicely in the centre of midfield, and a hotshot youngster in Pato (come January), and with Kaka, Pirlo, Nesta and Seedorf all in great form, and also what looks like a revunated Ronaldo (who could explode), who's to say they won't do it again this season in Europe. My main worry about them would be, obviously, the aging defence, and what the likes of the young and fast attacking play of teams like Barca, Man Utd and Arsenal could do to 54-year-old Maldini and co.
• That dirty fucking scumbag wanker Poulsen is nothing but a dirty fucking scumbag wanker, and if anyone deserved to be at the receiving end of a Berlusconi-hired mafia-style hit it is that butchering fucktit. Ok, he is a solid player, and played very well out of position at centre-half, but the way he tackles and man-handles his oppenent (mostly Pippo) makes Marco Materazzi look like a bleedin fairy with bows on top. He was dragging out of Kaka (who I thought was going to lose it and retaliated, and who could blame him?), pulling Inzaghi around like Glad with a picture of Rosella, and generally looked like he belonged in that extreme fighting thing. Scumbag. I hope we play Sevilla at some stage this season and Barusso chops the fucker in two.
• Even though Milan play fantastic football, I predict they will lose three times to Roma this season. Once in Rome, once in Milan, and once, ladies and gents, in Moscow.
• Dida is fucking muck.
Maro, only messing earlier, don't cry. All the best with the wife to be, may you have a great day (and an even better night har har). All the best my friend. Remember, though, you still have a few days to reconsider – its not to late to pull out (...er) and elope to to the furthest regions of MidWorld and become Man and Sheep with your true love. No one shall judge you, and if they do, hey, we'll ban them.
Really Italiamia?! I always thought Milan were one of the most entertaining team to watch (of course after Roma), particularly when the play with Kaka behind 2 strikers. Inter are OK, not too boring, but in my opinion less fun to watch than Milan.
shinpin, arsenal play attractive football, but for gods sake they got to shoot the ball. If they learn to do that and work on finishing they will be a great(er) team.
i'll be the first to admit that last year's milan team was not much of a joy to watch in serie a, they played disinterested for the most part, and with no sense of urgency until the second half of the season. i can probably count the serie a games i enjoyed watching last season on one hand. in europe, however, athens apart, we were a very entertaining team, i thought, although my bias would be even stronger in these games as their meaning made them that much more exciting for me.
in the few seasons prior to that, my god, were we exciting. unanimously proclaimed the most entertaining team in italy. we were even the most attacking team in all of europe the season before last. only if you equate entertaining play with giving up a lot of chances the other way, then perhaps we are not that entertaining.
as for roma, you've only been really entertaining for the past season and a half. before that, you were just too inconsistent, and while certainly capable of playing a beautiful match, there were too many games in which you played like shit, especially against the so-called minnows.
hey watch it you striped banana. Just becoz you got some decent pts for todays game doesnt mean you can come and shit on our team!
Anyways, you do have a point about the minnows... we've struggled against these muppet teams for a quite a while now.. i mean its so frustrating when we cant manage to beat substandard teams like siena, reggina, lazio and milan... really really frustrating.
However, as attractive as we've been playinf for the better part of 19/20 months now, i found the final year of capello's team extremely entertaining to watch to. That was the season we finished second behind milan, with cassano and totti firing. Yes.. that year they were a joy to watch... although still not as entertaing as they can be now.
p.s tec... get the friggin basil and make the damn pesto... you can buy the pinutes for about 5-7 bucks which should leave you with a good jar and a half or 2 of pesto!
ok, ok, i'll do it...someday. i'll be in the market tonight probably, but not to buy faggy basil and pine nuts, but for drunkin.
i will actually agree with you on capello's roma's last stand, and it's even more amazing considering it's crapello we are talking about. that was definitely cap's most entertaining side since gli invincibili of 93-94. i must admit i found his madrid team of last year pretty entertaining to watch, though it wasn't strictly because of the quality of their play. still, milan that year was a juggernaut. sheva was in his prime, and kaka took serie a by storm. pirlo had a marquee year, and seedorf was his usual brilliant self. the man with two hearts, cafu, was still at his best, now he just has two pacemakers. last year, however, roma were by far the most entertaining team in italy, and fiorentina wasn't bad.
With the exception of Kaka, Milan puts me to sleep. Listen, I don't hate Milan, and of course, Ancelotti will always be a Roma player to me, but shite, they just kill me. It has nothing to do with winning or losing because Milan are winners under Berlusconi.
With regard to Capello, I will disagree. Roma was a wonderful team to watch under Capello. It's not like we just became an entertaining team with Spalletti. I am biased guys, and you all know that fact. Personally, when I watch other teams play I can't understand how anyone becomes a fan of Milan, Inter or rubentus. There is just a feeling a Roma fan gets simply by watching the boys trot onto the pitch. We certainly do not have the history of consistent winning like the other big time clubs. It's hard to describe to non Roma fans. For me, being italian and growing up in Rome is an experience that I cannot put into words. The whole city revolves around the club. Other than Napoli, I don't know too many cities that allow flags and banners to be displayed in church at Sunday mass. It is truly a religious experience.
I am not trying to be provocative or offensive. Roma fans are not necessarily soccer fans. We are Roma fans, and we have a difficult time even watching other clubs. I mean Romans of course. I am not Roman as you all know. I am from Calabria. But I was raised as a Roman if you will so I can only tell you all my experience of what it is like to grow up in Roma as a Roma fan.
