Yeah, Tuna, you're probably right. Get Pizza back in there for 60 minutes, at least, with Totti and Perrotta doing their usual further up the pitch. Actually I thought Perrotta was one of the few positives from today - I thought he was pretty busy and seemed to be returning to something like his best condition. Honestly, I think Spags's comments are actually polite I'll-take-the-blame coach's speak for "how the fuck could the retards not be ready for Udinese to attack them with long balls in behind? Didn't we spend most of the past 3 days working on this, for fuck's sake, and yet still they seemed to be taken by surprise by it? Clearly my telling them 'this is how they're going to fucking play' isn't sufficiently communicative. Maro, thats what I took his comments to mean. This is isn't the first time that I felt that hes called out some of our players. On several occasions last year, and during the preseason he mentioned something about our players making the same mistakes for three years. We have a talented group, they just may not be the smartest.

Because of my somewhat sporadic visit record of late, I'd dearly like to add something constructive to all you guys' comments on yet another disappointing week end but I find I can only state the obvious...

Hindsight can be so ironic! If I thought I'd be glad to see the back of Matteo Ferrari in the summer, even given he was supposed to be only a back up defender, I didn't reckon on Simone Loria being an even poorer replacement...I can't remember if we signed him from Reggina and frankly I'm not interested enough to check. What I will say is I bet that given the entertaining football Genoa are playing, Ferrari must be quietly grateful to be there.

Between injuries and bans we can't get a settled team out and if we ever manage to do so I'd still like to think we can finish the season in a reasonable position as I keep saying. But...I've seen a lot worse as a Romanista. I found the entire 1990's particularly hard to take because our beloved Lupi were at best a fair Uefa cup side and at worst those of us who can remember the state of the club in 1996 in particular...let's just say the words unpleasant memories don't cover it and just to rub salt in the wound, Lazio were particularly strong in that decade...

I'd say maybe a bad season could force a change for the better in ownership and perhaps head coach too. Even though I rate our mister as one of Italy's better allenatori, perhaps the thought of Carletto Ancelotti in charge isn't such a bad one. Then again, though he has considerably more European competition experience than Spalletti it must be said he has worked with clubs where finance and buying power wasn't a problem as compared to us under present ownership at least and next season mightn't be the time to discover how he'd cope with limited funds to set up a team fit to compete at top level...

Caro Prof, I hate to repeat the same song of misery but without change we stand more chance of losing some of our best assets, Aquilani in particular. Watching Di Natale's well taken goal against us yesterday, my heart was roasted to coin a phrase in thinking what might have been if we could have gotten him as the rumours suggested. He and Mutu...

And again I say as I did a couple of weeks ago, perhaps our gallant Capitan' ought to start giving serious thought to furthering his tv career rather than hoping to play until he is 37...

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has admitted his job is on the line when his struggling team take on Sampdoria at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night. The Giallorossi have taken just seven points out of a possible 24 this season, and on Sunday slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Udinese. That loss, their third consecutive setback, saw Roma slip to 15th in Serie A, 10 points behind the league leaders and just one point above the relegation zone. Spalletti conceded the team's current run means he is facing his most difficult period since he joined Roma from Udinese in the summer of 2005.

"Yes, I do feel that my job is at risk." he said. "But this is the destiny of any coach. When things don't go well it's logical and normal to feel that your job is at risk."

Spalletti has welcomed the club's decision to train away from Rome in the hope his team can spark their season into life.

"The club needs to evaluate the situation and they must have everything under control," added Spalletti. "That is why I completely agree with the decision to train away from Rome."

Oh great! Now we have fans turning up at Trigoria armed with eggs to throw at the players. According to Mediaset over 50 showed up at the gates and we have to assume that the only reason abuse alone was hurled at the players and not the eggs too is because the players weren't near enough to be hit!

Although few people outside of internet chat forums pay attention to the likes of us venting our discontent at the current state of affairs within our beloved club, on the other hand the media just loves to get a hold of items like the above mentioned fans. I really don't care for their idea of metaphorically doing their dirty washing in public but then again sometimes it takes a good old fashioned kick in the nuts to get something positive done at times like this.

I have to say I would also have preferred these guys to aim more of their anger at our management!

Wind e Roma almeno un altro anno insieme. Il main sponsor giallorosso ha infatti reso noto che il "matrimonio" proseguirà anche nella stagione 2009/10. Alla Roma andranno 7 milioni di euro oltre a un corrispettivo variabile in base ai risultati sportivi: "L’A.S. Roma S.p.A. e Wind Telecomunicazioni S.p.A. - si legge nel comunicato congiunto - rendono noto l’avvenuto esercizio da parte di Wind del diritto di opzione concesso nell’ambito degli accordi raggiunti il 1° agosto 2007, in base ai quali Wind ha assunto la qualifica di Main Sponsor della A.S. Roma per tutte le competizioni, a decorrere dal 1° luglio 2007 fino al 30 giugno 2009. A seguito dell’avvenuto esercizio del diritto di opzione, il contratto di sponsorizzazione in essere si estenderà alla stagione sportiva 2009/2010, con il riconoscimento in favore di A.S. Roma di corrispettivo fisso di 7 milioni di euro, oltre IVA, nonché di un corrispettivo variabile, determinato in funzione del raggiungimento di predeterminati risultati sportivi nelle competizioni nazionali e internazionali. We have extended our contract with telecommunications company Wind to sponsor us to the end of the 09/10 season for a fee of €7m for the year. There is also a option to extend to the 2010/11 season.
