Wow. I can honestly say that I wasn't expecting that. What a great first half. We should play for the win now. Il Capitano is unbelievably fucking brilliant. He is the leader we were missing.

Surely the most glaring point, in those sorts of terms, is that we seem now to have three (four, really, and perhaps five) second forwards in the team, and not really a single true striker: Totti, Vooch, Baptista, Okaka, and then Menez. Monty is the only true striker and evidently Spags hasn't seen too much cause to place too much trust in him. Okaka's become more of a second forward after last season on loan, presumably in part because he's just a bit short on real pace to carry a threat in behind defences. When Totti's fit, it's pretty much fine because he can play as the most unstrikerly 'striker' in the 4-2-3-1. When he's not fit, or when Spags is looking for other options, he's been fucked by Prade. Play Vooch alongside a Gomez or a Huntelaar, and he will be in his element. Play Baptista in the same role, and the same goes, I think. And, of course, that's also Totti's traditional position. Little wonder Spags asked for an out-and-out striker over the summer. Baptista can do well for us, but he doesn't add the necessary things to the squad as a whole.

According to latest reports, Pizarro is out for 20 days while Aquilani will skip the trip to Udinese, but should be fit to face Sampdoria in mid-week!
