Did you watch the game, Professore? Explain that one. Very few online today so I've been mixing it with the kids over on the Offside, which made up for what I was watching (until my stream cut with about 15 to go). As I've said, no complaints over the reds, and I thought we done alright in patches in the first-half and were desperately unlucky to be trailing at the break, but our decision making cost us in the end.

It's just the same shit over and over....there's no quick passing in the midfield...not like what we were used to...it's more long ball from the backline to nowhere over and over again. At least if we are going to lose the least I can ask is that this team entertains me...I was bored to falling back asleep this morning.

Last time I wake up at 6am to watch a game on a Sunday unless this team picks it up...not worth it.

Shield, we've had friends over today so I was only able to catch bits of the first half and none of the second. I have to say, I thought we played pretty well in the first half - certainly it was the most incisive attacking half I've seen from us for a while. Perrotta should have buried that sitter and with a little bit of luck we could have gone in a goal or two to the good. Still, we got lucky last weekend and against Bordeaux, so what comes around goes around. I think Populusque has the nail pretty much on the head there - without Totti coming deep to stitch things together and without Pizarro dictating play, we're still light-years away from our best and are going to have to scrape victories and cop a few defeats. The movement from the trequartisti and the fullbacks beyond Totti is our key and we don't get it with these guys. I'd hoped we might sneak the 3 points and then have a chance to lick our wounds over the International break but no such luck.

Reading the opinions of all you guys, I want to add that today we were too slow and too predictable in our build up, and though Taddei took care of the right, at least after a fashion, we had very little positive action from the left because Riise and Menez do not equal Tonetto and Vuci.

To echo Chris's say, we really need Vuci on the left which would at least for the moment seem the only way for Il Bestione as I prefer to call Baptista to be effective up front. Menez has a ways to go to develop and prove himself. He doesn't compare to the moody one, Amantino...

On that subject, it was an eye opener through the week to read the comments of Il Mister that we have flair players but
no-one with fighting spirit. When he wanted to use it, Mancini had...Vuci has it too. Now I fully appreciate that because of injuries our worthy Signor Luciano hasn't had the luxury of a full strength first X1 at his disposal, and that there would be flaws in the selected team's performance because of that. It's easy to criticise our summer signings but the major factors in our buying as we know only too well were not only who we could afford but also from a short list of players who were willing to come to us...which was a handicap to say the least! To have only won 2 from 6 games is not pleasant reading but at worst a Uefa Cup spot this sesh ought to still be well within our grasp. It's not what I want but it's realistic...when I look at the unlikely present league standings it looks possible!

Francesco Totti è già in dubbio per la gara contro l'Inter del 19 ottobre. Oggi il capitano giallorosso non è sceso in campo, ma si è allenato in palestra effettuando lavoro differenziato e corsetta insieme a Cassetti e Pizarro. Lo staff tecnico della Roma fa sapere che le condizioni di Totti verranno valutate giorno per giorno in vista della partita contro i nerazzurri. Ma la sua presenza in campo è tutt'altro che certa. Al contrario, Tonetto oggi ha ripreso a correre sul manto erboso, dedicandosi anche al potenziamente muscolare. Il numero 22 può considerarsi ormai recuperato, così come Pizarro. Cassetti e, come detto, Totti saranno invece monitorati di seduta in seduta. A Trigoria, non vogliono rischiare.

Totti is "already" in doubt for Inter. Wonderfuckinful. He wasn't able to train today and the physio's will see how he is getting on from day-to-day before making any decisions, but for now its not looking good. Tonetto and Pizarro are fully fit and Cassetti will be evaluated later in the week.

SPALLETTI: PATIENCE THE KEY

Roma know they need to get a move on if they want to get their season on track but coach Luciano Spalletti insists his players must first learn to be patient. The Eternal City outfit have won just twice this campaign in Italy's top flight and after six games played, last season's runners up find themselves in 14th position in the standings. Roma slipped to their third defeat on the road in Sunday's 1-0 loss at Siena, a huge setback after last week's wins over Atalanta and Bordeaux.

"We have allowed ourselves to be hindered by our desire to turn things around," Spalletti said. "In difficult times one must learn to be patient and wait for the right time to strike and take advantage. We were unable to do that against Siena."

The Giallorossi shot themselves in the foot on Sunday with defenders Philippe Mexes and Christian Panucci sent off midway through the second half.

"Their reactions were down to the frustration of not being able to do what they wanted on the pitch," admitted Spalletti. "We should have taken advantage of our chances and we didn't. But it certainly didn't help to play with nine men."

Injury woes have hindered Roma this campaign, with the Giallorossi having had to do without captain Francesco Totti and Chilean midfielder David Pizarro through injury.

Spalletti will be desperate to recover both players before Serie A resumes after the international break. Roma host Internazionale on October 19 without Panucci and Mexes because of suspension.

"We will see after the break if we are able to recover some injured players. What we need to do is to continue to work hard and learn from our mistakes in order to climb up in the standings."
