Chelsea cause uproar by taking food taster on trip to Transylvania

Chelsea's millionaire footballers have enraged locals on a trip to Transylvania by taking along a food taster. The players, who flew into the famous Dracula country for tonight's Champions League match, issued a 35-page list of demands at their five-star hotel.

The list orders that food can only be prepared under the watchful eye of their nutritionist Nick Broad, non-organic products be thrown out, and only extra virgin olive oil could be used.

One worker at the Opera Plaza hotel, near the city of Cluj-Napoca in Romania, said the pampered players were 'soft'.

He said: 'What do they think we're going to give them? Dracula blood?

'It's insulting. Like something out of the middle ages. They are too rich and too soft.

'This is a good hotel. We're used to stars and VIPs but this lot think they're royalty.'

The hotel's Bellagio restaurant was closed to the public as the Chelsea team arrived at the hotel. The squad, including manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, had a meal prepared by their chef.

Chelsea's multi-million pound squad will be taking on CFR Cluj in the second match in Group A of the Champions League tonight.

It is the first time the Romanian club has qualified for the top European competition. Both sides have 3 points after victories in their opening games, with Chelsea beating Bordeaux 4-0 and CFR Cluj winning 2-1 away at Roma.

Incredibile rivelazione riportata dal portale Romanews.eu: Mauro Zarate fu scartato dalla Roma. La grande sorpresa di questo avvio di campionato, in casa Lazio, fu bocciata dal direttore sportivo Pradè dopo la segnalazione del mediatore argentino Luis, incaricato dalla società giallorossa di visionare talenti in terra argentina. Luis, grande tifoso romanista, già da tempo considerava Zarate un futuro campione, ma non fu dello stesso avviso la società di Trigoria che più volte bocciò la proposta. Un errore che probabilmente i tifosi e dirigenti giallorossi rimpiangeranno per parecchio.

The thing about Zarate is that he's not like a brilliant find who Lazio plucked from nowhere, although he was a relative unknown in the peninsula. He too, like Tevez and Mascherano, was been offered around Europe by his Qatar club after Birmingham got relegated and it was made clear that whoever wanted him could initially take him on loan but would have to pay big for him in the end. It was a big surprise that none of the bigger English clubs (Spurs, Villa etc.) made a move for him after his exploits in the Premiershit last season. All in all though, as good as he may be for Lazio now and for the rest of the season, he kind of needs to be to justify the large price tag he came with (in principle) at the start of the season.
