Great win last night and a great turnaround from the boys. Spalletti's words from after the game were quite interesting:

I didn't see the whole game Maldini so I can't really comment, but I believe he was one of they're better players on the night, and has been playing very well lately.

No New Aquilani Contract Any Time Soon

There will be no Roma contract renewal for Alberto Aquilani just yet as, according to reports in Italy, talks over the issue have been postponed until the end of this month. Aquilani’s future at Roma has been looking increasingly uncertain in recent months due to problems over the renewal of his contract. The 24-year-old’s current deal runs out in 2010 and the player has been asking for around €2.5m in wages per year in order to sign an extension.

However, so far the highest offer Roma are said to have been able to muster is €1.6m, and this has led to intense speculation that Aquilani will quit the club. The midfielder, who has been linked with a move to Juventus and Inter, is still expected to sign a new contract with Roma but, according to Tuttomercatoweb, it won’t happen any time soon.

Aquilani’s agent Franco Zavagli was due to have a meeting with Roma sporting director Daniele Prade to talk about the renewal, but this has now been postponed and will probably not take place until after the match against Inter on October 19. The 24-year-old midfielder has played five times in Serie A so far this season, scoring twice.

If we let Alberto slip through our fingers, person or persons responsible within our upper office ought to be hung, drawn, and quartered! We know he would probably be willing to split the difference to around 2 mil or just over...letting this lad go would be unforgivable.
