Carletto in Milan crisis talks

Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti is currently in crisis talks with Vice-President Adriano Galliani. The Rossoneri have suffered a miserable start to their 2008-09 campaign with defeats against Bologna and Genoa. There has been widespread Press speculation as to the future of Ancelotti, whose star-studded side are currently propping up the Serie A table along with Cagliari.

After leading his men in training this morning, Ancelotti travelled to the club's offices on Via Turati to explain his team's dire form to an angry Galliani. Galliani has insisted that Carletto's job isn't in question at the moment, but there is a feeling amongst journalists in the peninsula that another defeat could end the ex-Juventus man's seven-year spell on the bench. Former Italy tactician Roberto Donadoni and Frank Rijkaard, who played for the Diavolo between 1988 and 1993 are said to be in the frame should Ancelotti vacate the hot seat.

i like that formation. we definitely need to try something new while pirlo is in such a slump.

kaka should be brought back more slowly, though, which is why i am pissed off at carlo for keeping him on the full 90 rather than ronaldinho. it was a move that was bad for the player, and even worse for the team.

The Man, of all the formations in the world, I should have thought the 4-2-3-1 was the one which cried out for a true regista more than any other. Of course, if the regista is playing shite like Pirlo and Pizarro, then it doesn't help, but it's quite precisely a formation in which you need a player to control the tempo and rhythm, to allow the guys in front of him to do their stuff. One of the problems for you guys at the moment is presumably that you have too many ball-players, too many guys who only like to do their running with the ball, and not enough guys who'll work off the ball to create space and passing options for others. The Cafu of 6 or 7 years ago would probably single-handedly solve that problem for you. How many of your forwards are going to run the channels, or pose a threat in behind a defence by running away from the ball? You look like Barcelona when you sketch that sort of team - unbelievably technically gifted, but totally imbalanced. It'd be interesting to see what would happen were we to swap Seedonk for Perrotta. No doubt none of us would really be happy with that swap, but we'd get much more technical quality across our trequartista line and you'd get a guy who was actually prepared to run for the rest of the team.

I would put Pato on the side of a 4-2-3-1 for sure. Kaka needs to be in the center.

The problem with this formation is that your wings are filled of attack-only minded players. Zambrotta and Jankulovski are great attacking SBs, but with Pato and Ronaldinho in front of them, it gets more dangerous. Milan tend to suffer from momentary lapses in attention in defense, and this formation will just expose that problem even more.

I think that Milan's problem will go away when Ancelotti is replaced. I like Ancelotti, but Milan are a complacent club right now and the only way to shake that up that boat is to change the Captain. Pirlo is playing poorly, Gattuso is out, Pato is freaking 18, Ronaldinho still thinks he is in the circus, Maldini is 40, and Kaka is recovering from an injury.

The 4-3-2-1 is definately the best formation for you guys... you just need a need a motivator on the sideline. Ancelotti needs to go. The formation is fine.
