I just read Everton bought a relatively unknown 20-year-old central-midfielder named Marouane Fellaini of Standard Liège for €18.5m. Thats right, . Weren't we interested in him at one point earlier in the summer...? Ha.

And Man Citeh pay Robinho €200,000-per-week, which is probably more than half our starting 11 put together. At least now we have another english club to despise (even more). Crazy figures.

Well, the one good thing about this ManCity money is that it makes it - or could make it in times to come (and I suspect Villa may need to be reckoned with, too) - a five into four for the CL which will have really quite serious ramifications in the long run, I think. For the rest of Europe, the four into four made the English spending-power doubly problematic because players could, as it were, be guaranteed good cash, good sides, and consistent CL football. If Arsewipe or Liverfekkin'wankscum were suddenly to miss out on the CL for a year or two, then, their appeal would diminish dramatically. That's slightly perverse logic (if it's logic at all), I know, but if there are 6 or 7 huge spenders in the PL it will complicate things for the English clubs too.

Well gentlemen... its official, i've rejuggled my bookings and flight to Rome. I'm now rebooked for the 20th of Sept to fly out from Dubai to Rome. And i'll be there till the 29th of September, during which i'll get to watch Roma play Reggina and Atalanta at Home, and will travel midweek to watch Roma play Genoa.. good excuse tos ee the city.. i've badly wanted to.

The games arent of the saem prestige as my previous two trips i guess (Roma vs Juve, Viola, Inter in one week), but it'll be good to see la magica play nonetheless... i just hope i get to see some good performances and a decent crowd at the olimpico.. oohh how i yearm to watch another packed house.

ANother time period that was on my mind was 26 Oct till 5th Nove.. during that time wuda been able to see Roma play Samp and Chelsea at home, and Juve and Udinese away... but its a tad bit to long for me to get to Ottawa... i wanna get back to studying for my CSC, CFA and job hunts during that time frame so that by Dec/Jan, i'll know if i wanna move back to Abu Dhabi or stay in Ottawa. Besides... weather will be a lot chillier in Italy during end October anyway, which would limit the amount of sight seeing that i would want to do.

Oh well.. happy daze... soo.. who's jealous? Maro? Shield? Jamjam?

Aba, well I'm envious as always since its been 3.5 years since I've been in the Eternal City and almost 2.5 since I've seen la Magica live (May 2006 at the San Siro), but given my travel schedule this year I cannot complain. I'm back in Beijing for at least 3 days later this month and then in India for about 11 days for work in which I'll defintiely have time to explore a bit (shhh... relatives have NOT been told that I'll be in the country), right after that.

Shield, you'll be in the Big Apple? I've never had a real slice NY pizza, something I've been wanting to do, http://slice.seriouseats.com, seems to be a good guide. If I was you, I would try to get things like Times Square, Statue of Liberty etc. out of the way quickly and wander some of the neighborhoods, like the East Village amongst others. Like other great cities, I would recommend you walk around to get a good feel. Also, after 6-7pm go to the Hilton in midtown (6th Ave and 53rd, I believe). Across from it will be a kebab stand where there is ALWAYS a line and has been for a long time. These guys are known through the city. Try it.

Anyone else with tips for Shieldy?

NYC is a fantastic city, a place that I am beginning to appreciate more each time I go, enjoy it.
