CL Group A with Chelsea, Bordeaux and Romanian champions CFR Cluj...

Il Mister says he's satisfied with the draw and I have a question. Is he satisfied with our mercato and therefore our ability to progress with Chelsea to the next phase of the CL? A mercato which again obliges him to plan around the continued use of our 4-2-3-1? Like many other things in life this system needs to be set up properly to work properly and as I've already said, if the "1" was a hotshot goal poacher then yes, I love it! But today we were told David Suazo will go to Benfica so that kicks yet another of our remaining hopes out the door if it is fact.

maro and I have both touched on the subject of our beloved giallorossi again facing a season being largely dependent on goals coming from those who are not recognised strikers which in all probability means another 9½ months spent cursing over more than our fair share of missed opportunities!

Although as maro has very aptly also remarked, in retaining our unique system, Spalletti may have hoped to cure our defensive frailties by having players just as capable of assisting defence as attack. It's said Scolari may have not been averse to Malouda still joining us if Chelsea could make a last minute killing by getting Robinho. This option would certainly add weight to the renewed faith in our 4-2-3-1 formation by our worthy allenatore though if I may add in my usual dry fashion, being compelled by budget rather than desire to do so seems the more honest explanation for his compromising what is when at full strength, a most effective attacking game plan! But with Roma and Chelsea having drawn each other in the CL I can't somehow imagine Big Phil being any longer in favour of such an arrangement even if the remaining time permitted...which is now most unlikely!

We were promised two new signings of note and we have Baptista and Menez. But as we have also lost two starting quality wingers in Giuly and Mancini who have not been replaced, (though Vuci can for the most part fill Mancini's boots) we have a problem on Sunday against Napoli if Taddei and Totti are indeed not playing which some of you guys have mentioned. This will require Cici and Tonetto to attack more, and if Reja has the brains he would seem to have then he will exploit our situation by forcing them to defend and therefore blunting our wing play or drawing them out and getting in behind them...I didn't want to see us start our new season by having to make do and adapt just exactly as we left off last term!

So, positives? I'm glad to see we are keeping young Okaka with us but he must be encouraged and played, not used only very sparingly or all that will happen is he has no real time to impress and will then be sent off on some loan deal which may mean the last we'll see of him as a giallorosso.

Additionally, there is still the week end left to pull a last minute rabbit out of the hat and I hope it's not some dunce from Chievo or Torino in exchange for Brighi/Esposito...Vučinić up front I can live with, albeit grudgingly, Montella as hopefully an Inzaghi type sub I can bear. I do not want for example, to see Di Michele being brought in, then our being told he is a bargain and will be il salvatore della patria! We have our Pupone for that...

La nostra Principessa Rosella has been officially named as our new club Presidente. She will continue until November also with her old position of amministratore delegato or managing director when a new name will be voted in and also a new consiglio di amministrazione by the club partners.

I'd say sarcastically, yes why not, keep the extra pay packet coming in while we struggle to make a purchase in the mercato! Except if it wasn't her it would only be someone else...

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here but hasn't she always been on 2 salaries for 2 jobs with our club, one being little more than a name only position?
