Frenchesco, I see you're online at the moment. What do you make of Menez and what's his reputation in France like? I haven't see him much and so have been relying on Populusque's insight. It's really interesting that it seems we're more interested in him than in Suazo, at this stage, who looks like he'd be cheaper and who's clearly shown he knows how to play in Serie A. I presume it's because Menez is a bit less direct and so can offer us more getting back, too, in that position. Unless, of course, we're going to get both !?!?

Alors qu'il devait rester sur le Rocher, Jérémy Menez pourrait finalement faire ses valises. Le président de Monaco, Jérôme De Bontin, avait en effet fixé l'indemnité de transfert à 25 millions pour dissuader l'AS Rome. Le joueur lui-même, 7 buts en Ligue 1 la saison dernière, avait laissé entendre qu'il passerait finalement une saison supplémentaire en Principauté. Mais l'ASM veut recruter et a besoin de liquidités, poussant le club à revoir ses exigences à la baisse. Un accord semble d'ailleurs presque acquis pour la cession de l'attaquant français au club italien. La transaction se ferait à hauteur de "seulement" 12M d'euros.

Apparently Monaco, who had put up the price of Menez at 25 millions of Euros wanted to dissuade As Roma. However, it seems that they now need cash and would expect less from the sale of Menez. The article says that an agreement of "only" 12 millions could be done. It seems that the deal is almost done.
I do not know whether there is any true in this but I would love this.
Unfortunately, this would make another non-italian player into the squad but I think the guy could become a very good player.

Sorry Maro, I can't tell u much about him. I heard many good things from him 3 or 4 years ago when he was a very promising youngster. As for recently, I have not spent much time in France nor watched the French League.
I don't think he has been that great for the past two years in Monaco but the guy is still young and may need to move on the bigger stage. He has great qualities and would bring more versatility to the team than Suazo.
I'm gonna try to get more info about him...

Jérémy Menez évoluera bien à l'AS Roma cette saison. Un accord entre les dirigeants monégasques et romains a été trouvé dans la nuit de mardi à mercredi, selon FranceFootball.fr. L'ancien Sochalien est attendu dans la journée à Trigoria, le centre d'entraînement des Giallorossi pour passer la traditionnelle visite médicale et parapher un contrat d'une durée de quatre ans. Le montant du transfert est estimé à 14 millions d'euros. La saison passée, Menez, 21 ans, a disputé 25 rencontres de L1 et inscrit 7 buts. Sa fin d'exercice a été perturbée par une pubalgie.



According to lequipe.fr and francefootball.fr less than 1 hour ago...Menez is leaving Monaco for AsRoma. An agreement has been found last night and Jeremy Menez is expected today at Trigoria for the medical visit. The contract would be 4 years and the transaction 14 millions Euros.

From what I've read, he is a two-footed player and exceptionally strong dribbler. He is originally from Sochaux and has many credits to his distinction in France’s top division, which include being the youngest ever scorer of a hat trick in Ligue 1, as well as being the youngest ever winner of Ligue 1's player of the month award.
He is a playmaker by trade and has sometimes been compared to Zinédine The Bald Algerian.
The guy was a very good prospect having a great potential and creativity. He won the european under-17s championship in 2004, alongside Ben Arfa, Nasri, Gourcuff etc...
I'm not sure he is what we need most. I feel Suazo would be more what we need in terms of striking force. However, bcoz he is french and young I would love this deal to be true. I think his qualities are quite the same as Nasri and Menez has a more physical presence on the pitch. This is just what I've read and heard guys....hope it's true and I will make my own opinion soon.

Shield I've lost another post... must be something with the wiring here in HK. Maro, I did get to see some "real results" hahaha, on TV before getting into Beijing and even on TV in China. I have to say the Brits and the Jamaicans did very well for themselves despite their population sizes, though that's beating a bit of a dead horse.

What do you mean, moldy? Britain's population is more than three times Australia's and they only won one more medal and it's more than 15 times NZ's and they barely won five times as many medals. pfff. Don't believe the hype; we rock and that's all there is to it.

Great to back on here again! Baptista is going to offer the team something different that I think we lacked in previous seasons which is physical presence in the penalty area and hopefully the crosses will finally find a head to put them in. I also love how he has great technique for a player his size.

Dunno much about Menez other than from youtube and your opinions but he should a great addition to the team. I still want Suazo though, what would be amazing is if we got both Suazo and Menez. In my opinion Suazo has the potential to be a big player like Eto and Drogba.

I dunno what Alvarez and Montella are still doing at Roma, but I think that hopefully we will offload them once we secure the signature(s) of new players. If Roma lands Suazo its better if we send Okaka on loan for another season.

With Menez and/or Suazo this transfer season deserves an A+.

Hi maro, after finishing from the States I went to Kuwait to finalize some immigration papers stuff because I am moving to Dubai, then I spent most of the summer on vacation at Lebanon which is in shit condition right now. Electricity and water is cutting 16 hours a day, and their prices are skyrocketing. Some people are living on candles at night for light and boiling water on the stove so they can shower. Sad really. Anyway I am now in Dubai and planning on staying here for a couple years

Yes, quite often we are left with no electricity and no water but we always survive by locking ourselves into the nearest pub for the night and downing pint after pint of Guinness and having sing-songs in candlelight. By the time we've had our fill its morning time so we don't need electricity all the time.
