good game yesterday. fucking tln showed the tape delayed juve game in the live slot and moved our game into the tape delay slot so neither game was live. fucking idiots. so i had to keep myself away from any news so that i could still enjoy the game somewhat. it was working well but for the fucking commentator during the inter-udinese game mentioning that we were up 3-0 at half time. afterwards, it's amazing how much less interesting a game is when it is not live, even if you don't know the final score.

still, an excellent first half by the boys. everyone played their part, but i was particularly impressed with ambro, nesta and dida. kaladze made a mistake early on, but it was inconsequential. our attacking play was great in the first, and we could have had a lot more than the three goals we did put in. we may need to be more clinical against sevilla, but then we always step up for the big games, not that the supercup is necessarily any bigger than the serie a opener.

in the second half, we really took the foot of the gas as has become our custom in games that we are controlling. this is alright, i suppose, so long as we don't lose the result and nobody gets injured. by the way, what was the news on kaladze after the game? as fascinating as the first half was, the second was excrutiatingly dull. we looked completely disinterested in adding to our score and seemed more intent on giving our defense a good practice for sevilla, which, again, is alright. based on this game, we are ready for them, regardless of their 4-1 win over getafe, which after seeing it i have to admit it was very flattering to them. it took the sending off of two getafe players to finally get them on board. refs in la liga are at least as awful as anywhere else. this one and the valencia-villareal game were perhaps the most controvercial.

anyway, i expect the same lineup for friday, with maybe the addition of pippo in for gila, and a b team for sunday. hopefully, gourcuff can make a start then.

sevilla has a big game in athens tomorrow, which should play to our advantage. they need to get into the champions league, unless they want a third consecutive uefa cup.

Sevilla to take on Milan in Monaco

Sevilla FC will attempt to become the second club to successfully defend the UEFA Super Cup on Friday when they will meet the only side to have achieved that feat, AC Milan.

Milan record
Already the sole four-time winners of the trophy, Milan aim to make it five at Monaco's Stade Louis II after clinching the UEFA Champions League title in May. It will be their seventh appearance in the 33rd edition of the competition, putting them one ahead of the record they previously jointly held with FC Barcelona. They won their last appearance 1-0 against FC Porto in 2003.

Sevilla aim
Meanwhile Sevilla, who defeated then European champions Barcelona 3-0 on their UEFA Super Cup debut last year, hope to repeat the trick after again winning the UEFA Cup last season. Their margin of victory in 2006 was the highest since the event became a one-off game in 1998. The match is the traditional curtain-raiser to the new European season and will follow a number of prestigious events in the principality.

Draw and awards
The draw for the UEFA Champions League group stage will take place at the Grimaldi Forum on Thursday, starting at 18.00CET. The ceremony will include the UEFA Club Football Awards, which are given by European football's governing body to the best players in last season's competition. i hope seedorf, pirlo, and gattuso get their fair share of recognition as well.

tec, since, i think, you are the only one who's seen both milan and sevilla play this season, what do you reckon are chances are vs. the men from seville?
