well, i'll certainly pm pocari but i guess we should make sure that we are gone for sure since i am sure soc will be monitoring any pm's coming and going from any one of us. once i send pocari the message, i'm sure i'm as good as gone from that place.

Yes, all my fault. Not that Shield calling Socc a gumless cum-guzzler helped, of course. I just think it's interesting, too, how swiftly he moved to remove Shield's FS position - as if any kind of independence there was too much of a threat. Not all my fault, then, but in part, I'm sure. His response to my little post over on the Milan thread, too, was revealing.

You can tell him, then, that I beseech him, pretty please, to restore my status at xtreme and that if he does so I promise never to be naughty and to soap his masterful, sweaty testicles whenever he likes.

Glad, I guess you could tell him that I and one or two of the others who've been banned are posting over here rather than suggesting a full-on relocation has taken place. If you are diffident, though, then let's just do it all through the addict for now. Though, as I see it, the fear that you might be permanently banned for the contents of a private message is in itself enough to give us urgent cause to move.

As the elder statesman in this group, I feel like I just had to deal with my children's problems at school by having to talk to the principal or headmaster or whatever you want to call it.

Yes, no gelato for us pesky kids. I've just been reading the latest couple of posts over on xtreme and Socc does make me chuckle. The generous-spirited reasonableness of the man simply has to be admired. At least he will be able to tell himself - indeed, already is telling himself - that it's a pity our unreasonable intransigence wasn't able to accommodate itself to his generous and reasoned rules.

Avvocato, I think this is the best solution, much as I'm disinclined to give the Irish git too much credit. It will take a little bit of effort from us to get things up and running properly and we will, no doubt, run into various annoyances and Shield will long for the days when there were others to rely on for technical expertise. Nonetheless, we're always likely to run into trouble in any moderated forum. Of course, I never expected things to blow up at xtreme as they have done or certainly not so abruptly. I had imagined we'd be able to work our way past most pressure points, but I do think it's fair to say (unless we flatter ourselves) that we're capable of more sophisticated and mature and nuanced self-moderation than anything anyone from outside of the group is likely to be able to provide. We have done so well at xtreme because every time we've pushed a little bit, they've budged and there's been largely a culture of mutual respect. This time, though, it feels to me as though Socc's suddenly decided he wants to return to treating us like school kids even though we've all been getting on together like adults for however long. Curiously enough the shift was not seamless.

We shall, then, have to work to make this site come to life. I wonder if we could do something quite smart, in time, with some of the history of the club - slowly accumulating pieces and photos and clips to create a homepage or a series of historical pages to give a bit of background to the forum. In time, I say, in time.

I suspect we should also create a new thread entitled "Solely for on-topic Calcio-related posts." And then we can rename this one "Thread for off-topic posts." Of course the other thread would accumulate about a post every second month, but at least we'd all always know just where we stand.

Hey Maro, I see you are around. I have to agree with your last post. It seems we have no choice. I tried to be as reasonable as possible with Socc to no avail. It seems he wants us to go.

I have tried to PM Pocari, grasso and SPqR but I think, though I cannot confirm, that my PM's are being redirected. I just now PM'd Frenchesco through the addict and gave him the link for this place.

Anyway, we are here to stay. I know we have always talked about having our own place so now the question is, can we make any money off of this venture?

Yes, I've just been having a look back through the recent posts on xtreme and your exchange with Socc. He is certainly being very careful to appear properly gracious magnanimous about it all but I certainly don't get the sense he's all that interested in things returning to their former ways. It all makes a lot more sense now that we know what dib-dab actually posted - another post taking the mickey out of Socc, however gently, and that, I gather, is where his sensitivity lies.

Let's hope there's no problem dragging Populusque and Frenchesco and Pocari and Grasso across. I'd meant to suggest that you not do any of the pm-ing - just as a way of keeping your nose cleaner than clean since we may well want to keep at least one user afloat over there as others like the usually quiet Roma-forever and Roman-emperor flick in after a break of a week or three. It will be interesting to see if Socc reacts to the PMs you've been sending. That, for me, was the surest sign he'd flipped - I logged on to find that while my account was still up and running I suddenly had no stored pms any more. Subsequently, of course, even sterner action has been taken.

We shall have to lure in a host of new users with our outstanding forum posting skills and some top-drawer reporting. I'd suggest we start as we mean to go on and fix a roster for the writing of the match reports. I'll do the Roma ones, evidently, Shield can do the Liverpuke ones, the Avvocato can do the Rubentus ones, and Populusque can do a kind of double-bill Palermo and formaggio column. Fonz, of course, will have to contribute to the pic galleries as we try to bring in the female audience.
