Ita, it would seem according to Goal.com that Esposito could be on his way to Chievo. As it happens, this is one guy I wanted to see us sell this summer but in view of our limited activity in the market, can we afford to lose another player even if he is only smaller club standard? The article in question doesn't make clear whether this would be a loan or straight sale but, as you rightly point out, losing another Italian and perhaps replacing him with a sub standard import is no answer to our problems.

Glad, to answer you here rather than in the Juve threads, you know I view Iaquinta as a lost opportunity for Roma. I still say he and Di Natale could have made all the difference to us and at the same time helped keep up our Italian presence, but it wasn't to be...instead we have the consolation prize if it even is of Quagliarella dangling in front of us now! For that to work, Di Natale would have to join us too and Udinese despite their rep for selling their stars wouldn't part with them both at once.

T10, yes, if we wanted a duffer as reserve keeper we could've just kept Curci. Artur is what Brazilian goalkeeping jokes are all about! I guess Cesar and Doni are fortunate exceptions to the norm...

Maro, to say that Baptista and Suazo are better than Giuly and Mancini is a stretch, at least for me. Much like with Cicinho last season, I think were overpaying for Baptista. People say he'll score what Perrotta misses, but who is to say that he'll even get those type of chances in front of goal? I don't think he will. As for Suazo, can you really see all three of Vucinic, Totti, and Suazo starting on the field at the same time in our current formation? I certainly can't. Taddei would seem to offer more than Suazo would on the right. Plus, none of those players really defend all that well. I mean Vuci tries, but come on. If we get Baptista, which is looking more and more likely, then I hope our next acquisition is a true winger before we even try to get someone like Suazo.

Could Drenthe play down the right do you think? Or could Vooch play down the right at times?

i didnt realise this before but drenthe is listed at a lofty 5'-6"! what is it with our management's fascination with dwarfs?

i think that if we can get him (even as the reported loan deal) in addition to baptista and possibly suazo, then i'll be pretty happy. it'll be like picking up 6 players given their inherent versatility. i guess suazo would give an option on the right as well as the striker position and drenthe could provide cover for vuci as well as for de rossi in the middle.
