MILAN - Roberto Mancini spoke on Sky Italia following Inter's 1-1 draw with Udinese. He said: "We did well in the first half. We created at least a couple of chances to kill off the match but we didn't score from them. I think that you have to try to kill off matches in these situations. We're at the start of the season and there can be difficulties when it's as hot as this."

On the dismissal of Julio Cesar, the Inter coach commented: "The ball bounced high and he stopped it with his hand. We were down to ten men, they put us under a bit of pressure and we were unlucky to concede the goal.

"We were focused in the first half and we created a lot but didn't kill off the game despite our chances. In the second half we were penalised because of the numerical inferiority. It was very hot, we resisted until the end, and then we conceded the goal.

"I have been saying for years that matches in August and September shouldn't be played at three in the afternoon, but at least at six. But we continue to play at eight thirty in January when it's really not cold... and we play at three in forty degrees Centigrade in August... This isn't just a problem for us, but for all the players. These are things that penalise you over a long season.

"Unfortunately we have had a few problems. The South Americans have only been back for a couple of weeks. We have lost two or three players to injury but I think that we can overcome these things by continuing to work hard.

"The physical structure of the players means the team will take a bit longer than the others to reach top condition.

"At a certain point I introduced Suazo so Udinese wouldn't press us too much. The player had a few problems as soon as he came on, and couldn't manage to sprint, so we lost a man we had just substituted. He didn't give us the depth that we needed.

"We were under pressure, then their goal came by chance. But Udinese had other chances to score."

L'Inter ha acquistato dai portoghesi del Vitoria Guimaraes il centrocampista, Vítor Hugo Gomes Paços, detto 'Pelé'. Lo stesso Gabriele Oriali ha ammesso che il giocatore arriverà domani a Milano per sostenere le visite mediche.

Oriali ha anche detto che il giocatore non sarà girato in prestito ad altre squadre ma che è stato preso per completare la rosa nerazzurra. Il tecnico Mancini ha commentato così: 'Speriamo sia come quello vero...'

Retroscena di mercato a pochi giorni dalla chiusura delle liste. Secondo la Gazzetta dello Sport Massimo Moratti e l'Inter avrebbero rifiutato nelle scorse settimane una offerta multimilionaria del Real Madrid per il brasiliano Maicon Douglas (26), per il quale il club spagnolo avrebbe proposto ben 30 milioni di euro.
