Roma For The Scudetto - Lippi

Italy coach Marcello Lippi has tipped Roma to win the Scudetto this season and he has hinted at who he might pick for his Azzurri side for the up and coming friendly against Austria.

The coach is currently looking around at a number of players as he tries to assemble La Nazionale for a friendly against Austria and then for the all important World Cup qualifying campaign which begins in September.

Apart from national duties, Lippi has picked Roma for Scudetto glory.

lol sounds like it. no disrespect to roma or anything like that. if lippi spoke to jose, who could have he been asking for? balotelli or matrix?

given his recently confirmed status as an italian citizen, i would imagine it's regarding balotelli to try him out in the upcoming friendly. i think matrix could be finished for the nt.

as for roma, i think that had it still been the mancini version of inter, it may have made some sense. i actually think milan might be the team to beat with all the other contenders having cl commitments.

true, but milan could consider their season a failure if they dont win the uefa cup? surely that is a must.

well, i dont know how much that would really mean to them, really. last year bayern were in a similar situation but in the end, priority (in terms of playing their top line up) seemed to be toward the domestic league and securing cl spot.

i suppose they will play it by ear and if they are in a comfortable position in serie a and still competing in uefa, they may make a push for it. if they are battling for the scudetto or attempting at securing a cl spot, i would imagine the uefa cup will take a back seat.

Balotelli, Bovo and D'Agostino To Get Lippi Call?

Inter’s Mario Balotelli, Palermo’s Cesare Bovo and Udinese’s Gaetano D’Agostino may all find themselves with a surprise call up from Marcello Lippi according to reports in Italy.

The Italy coach has been moving around the grounds during pre-season as he ticks off his shortlist of players for the friendly against Austria next week.

Balotelli is now eligible to play for La Nazionale after gaining Italian citizenship with Bovo and D’Agostino on Lippi’s radar also.

Tuttomercatoweb claims that all three players may find themselves receiving a call to the squad from the world cup winning coach.
Bovo has been brilliant for Palermo and he was outstanding last term with D’agostino just as good in midfield for Udinese.

Balotelli has also set the world alight at San Siro and he always stated his dream of playing for Italy.

That ambition is now likely to come true when Lippi announces his squad on Saturday.

The team will get together on Monday to begin preparing for the friendly game in Nice on Wednesday night.
