Chelsea are still in talks with AC Milan over a stunning summer swoop for Kaka, according to the player's personal assistant. The Brazil international has been linked with the Premiershit outfit following the appointment of compatriot Luiz Felipe Scolari as manager.

Milan insist their gifted playmaker is not for sale, but reports suggest a 100million euros (£78million) deal could yet be brokered before the closure of the transfer window at the end of the month.

Kaka, who is under contract at the San Siro until 2012, is said to be unhappy over Milan's refusal to allow him to represent his country at the Olympic Games in Beijing. And the brilliant Brazilian's personal assistant, Diogo Kotscho, has claimed talks between the two clubs are ongoing.

Kotscho told The Observer: "I spoke with Kaka yesterday (Saturday). We know that the clubs are talking about the transfer, although they have not reached a conclusion yet.

"I think an August transfer is still a possibility, though Kaka will only talk about that when they do a deal.

"He is waiting for a deal and then he will start to negotiate with Chelsea.

"Normally, Milan do not sell their best players. We think they like the proposal, but it is not so easy for them to accept it.

"For now we must just wait and see."

Paolo Maldini calmly analyzed the Rossoneri's summer. The English teams are more in shape, but with the Italian teams there was no difference. Without strikers, also, the team is always under pressure and tends to spread out too much.

MILANELLO - Here are the declarations made by Paolo Maldini to Milan Channel's microphones after the morning training session at the Milanello sporting center:

Paolo, how are you?
"I'm alright, during training there can be some pains, but everything gets resolved quickly."

You are doing a different preparation compared to last season...
"We are working to improve our technique and agility. During the preparations you have to try and recuperate all the things you lose during the summer period. Also, this year we are trying new exercises, some alternatives to avoid it becoming boring. The preparation is an important period, useful also to increase our attention which is never at the maximum at the start, that's the biggest difficulty. Concerning the results of the friendlies we've played, we could have done better, but we also have to consider the team we've played against and the level of preparation.
Against Inter and Juventus the difference wasn't evident, in fact we did better. Certainly we can improve our mental approach to the games. Also we don't have our strikers available, which makes it difficult to score against teams like Chelsea and Manchester City. Without strikers the play changes completely and you are always under pressure. With just Paloschi available it's not easy. Alberto is doing his job well, he didn't go on vacation and he also has a thousand justifications even though he played two good matches. The play is penalised because the midfielders push forward and move away from their positions, everything becomes more difficult."

Paolo, tonight the Champions League preliminary matches... did you think about that?
"Yes, I've thought about it, and I'm sorry, but now it's over, it's an old story."

Yesterday Dario Simic moved to Monaco.
"Dario is a very nice lad, we have won a lot and celebrated together, but it's normal that at his age, with less playing time, he wants to play. Our profession is nice, but if you don't have the satisfaction of playing matches, the trainings and the work don't give you enough satisfaction."

Milan are well renowned as a family club, but Steve Wilson thinks their latest nepotistic signing has taken things too far

How far should you go to keep your employees happy? For Milan the answer appears to be to throw money at the friends and families of their superstars in order to keep them with a smile on their faces. The Rossoneri have recently offered a contract to Chedric Seedorf - the younger brother of midfielder Clarence. But is this really the way to run a successful club? For me this tendency is starting to become something of a joke.

The best punch line has already been written though by the Diavoli, and once again it involved Seedorf. Back in 2004 his close friend Harvey Esajas was offered a contract by the San Siro side while on a visit to the Dutchman, at the time he had been out of the game for three years and was working in a Spanish circus. With the signing of Kaka's brother Digão last term as well it has become something of a bizarre and all too regular trend at the club.

In 2007 the fear was that Real Madrid would tempt away Kaka, so the arrival of his sibling was a way to keep him sweet. This year the arrival of Ronaldinho reportedly put Seedorf in a spin, so again the resolution appears to have been to do the pouting primadonna a nepotistic favour. Shouldn't the honour of playing for Milan be enough for these men without having to get little treats to keep them happy? And how much self-respect can Seedorf Jnr have?

The 25-year-old has been through the youth systems at Ajax, Real Madrid and Inter - notice the common link between that trio - and his previous spell in Italy saw him at Legnano, where the chairman is his big bro's former Milan teammate Marco Simone. You can count the number of games he has played professionally on a polydactyl's hand. There can be absolutely no question at all that he wouldn't be in the Milan squad based on his own merit.

Most likely he will follow in the footsteps of Esajas and Digão and will make a cameo appearance when Milan enter the Coppa Italia in November. But what does that say to the real Primavera players who have worked hard to get within touching distance of the first XI? When pulling out of the Dutch Euro 2008 squad Seedorf spoke of wanting to protect his integrity. Where are those oh-so-important principles now as he makes a mockery again of the institution that pays his wages?

Gilardino still fucked up quite a few chances and scored from an offside position. Nothing has changed other than the fact that the goal counted. He still seems to be trying too hard; guess the pressure of the CL qualifier got to him given the atmosphere in the Viola now.

Gourcuff apparently played very well but I'll reserve judgement till later; he was fucking impressive for us in the beginning as well.

Milan set for Ivanovic crunch talks

Today could be the day that Milan complete a swoop for Chelsea’s Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic. The Rossoneri are looking to swell their defensive ranks and have set their sights on the 24-year-old stopper.

Ivanovic has been told that he doesn’t feature in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s first-team plans for the coming campaign and has grown frustrated at his inactivity in West London since arriving in January from Lokomotiv Moscow. The most likely solution is a loan deal, which will allow Milan to add some depth to their back line for the season and prevent Chelsea from losing a possible star of the future.

The world champions are likely to be offered the chance to make the deal permanent this time next year for a fee of around £10m. Diavolo transfer guru Ariedo Braida is expected in London within the next few hours to meet with Ivanovic’s agent Marko Naletilic and Chelsea chief Peter Kenyon. A number of details still have to be ironed out, but a deal could be completed within the working day.
