On today's debacle...

Okaka has again shown us he must be kept! He must be brought up to his full potential and made a future Roma star, not somebody else's!

I also want to pick up on two points made by Shield. Firstly, he rightly points out that the days are well past when Italian sides could come to England for a leisurely pre-season stroll...for a variety of reasons! Secondly and more importantly, coming to Tottenham today under strength and so obviously behind in fitness level could have only resulted in what we saw. What I want to know is this...again as Shield has also noted, Spalletti and some of Roma's upper management will most assuredly have known there would be only one outcome to today.

I think we'd all like answers to the following:

1) Was someone indeed trying to prove the obvious point that we need more quality in our squad?

2) Was that person hopefully Il Mister Luciano hoping he could by example make his meaning rather than by confrontation?


3) To just what extent is la famiglia Sensi placing personal interest above that of the club's well being?

4) maro correctly states that with most of the team off-balance you can't single out any one player for blame. Again enter Shield...fixtures like today's could do more harm than good!


...and so, was someone indeed trying to prove a point today or was it yet another example of bad management planning?

maro, I didn't realise the Spurs friendly had been a long standing pre-arrangement.

Mercifully perhaps I only saw the second half though I did see replays of all the goals. The one I saw live was bad enough, terrible defending on that corner! If yesterday is an example of Artur's expertise we'd have been better hanging on to Curci! Fortunately we know what De Rossi is really capable of and on that basis and even after those 2 faux-pas I'm inclined to forgive and forget.

The on-going argument of Italian clubs starting a season later and finishing later, the merits of a stronger finish than many others versus the slower and therefore poorer start...as we know all too well it's the Italian mentality to place more value on the attitude of making it count when it really matters and to have the all too aggravating way of taking the expedient route there, doing only what needs to be done. Nobody questions the wisdom when they see the plan work, an Italian side lifting the CL, or in our case finishing well in Serie A, but the all too annoying part is suffering days like yesterday because there is no escape from the recorded result, even though it was only a pre season friendly!

Yes, Spurs like other English clubs are no longer playing typical English football and irrespective of whether or not they themselves hit the very top in terms of European success, other English sides will just for that simple reason! We usually see 8 years or so phases during which any one country is the dominant force...I wonder if we will ever see a repeat by anyone of the superb run Italian clubs had from 1990 to 1999...at the moment it is England on top and I'm wondering if the Spanish are due a turn?

Baptista will not add much. We needed get someone who would've put us over the top, and Baptista is not that player! We went and bought a backup when we needed a starter. Here's to winning the Coppa Italia again next year!

Less than 20 days before the start of the new season and what have we done???
Not much so far...
We know the biggest signings are to come but I am asking myself now whether they are really on the way or not. Who are we gonna get??? Baptista??? Benayoun??? Suazo???
Those are not the one I was personally looking for. I m not sure about u guys but I do not think those players are gonna bring us to the next level. I m loosing my patience with this management. Our most important need is a world class striker and i do not think it will come.
Our preparation is over soon and yet we only signed Loria, Felipe and Riise...When after a good season we were all hoping for great changes and a REAL improvement, I feel that once again the management will just do the strict minimum to make us stronger.
I ve been waiting to see what was going to happen for the last 2 weeks before posting but I can tell u now that I don't think we'll be in the best 4 the season to come. Please Rosella prove me wrong.
Also, I thought one of the great advantages of keeping an Italian ownership would be to sign and have a great number of Italian players but I was apparently very wrong. Italian are leaving Roma and we always look elsewhere when we would have some of the best at home.
To add to this, I realized during this mercato that players, wherever they are coming from are not interested to come to Rome. This is one of the most beautiful city in the World and ASRoma still does not attract anybody good.
Our management does not do its best and I said it before, our best players are gonna have enough soon. As much as they love Roma, we never manage to sign a Huntelaar or Podolski or Silva and this is becoming really annoying.
