MILAN - Massimo Moratti commented on Inter's performance against Bayern Munich and replied to transfer market questions in a brief interview with journalists on Wednesday lunchtime.

This is what he had to say:

President, what did you think of last night's match against Bayern?
"I liked Inter, in the same way as I might like a match at the start of the season: you just look at the improvements, adaptations to the systems, and you hope you won't do badly. However, the team moved well."

Will you return to the transfer market?
"No, I don't think we will return to the transfer market. I don't think Mourinho has any intention of doing so. We have great faith in the players we have, and we hope the injured players will recover. The problems remain for the Italian Super Cup against Roma and for the first league match."

But we continue to hear the name Ricardo Quaresma...
"We have so many strikers. I really don't think he will arrive. The problem is the opposite: it's the defence."

Is your chase for Lampard over now?
"The lad had a very important problem, which is that of belonging to Chelsea. Our respect for this whole situation was due to the fact that he belonged to another club and this club didn't want to sell him, so in the end it wasn't easy for him to leave. Everything that might have seemed to be possible didn't turn out to be, so we didn't think it was worth chasing someone for six more months, and we have brought in the other alternative we had, who was Muntari, who is showing he is an excellent buy."

To conclude, your comment on the recent war of words between José Mourinho and Claudio Ranieri, and Felipe Scolari describing the Inter coach as arrogant in an interview with the British paper The Guardian?

Well, we know that the Quaresma transfer is held up because of their outrageous evaluation of him so this could be another tactic imo. August 31 is approaching quickly though so it will end one way or another.

Also good news for the whole footballing world is that we don't have to hear this CR7 - Madrid crap anymore. It's confirmed he'll stay at Man U this season and then move to Madrid next season imo which seems logical.

Inter coach Jose Mourinho has found a way to raise funds for Riccardo Quaresma. Sportmediaset claims the ‘Special One’ will sell David Suazo, Hernan Crespo and Victor Pele in order to finance the Porto winger’s transfer to San Siro.

The Nerazzurri have been looking for a midfielder to add some muscle in the middle of the park.

Although the club signed Sulley Muntari, reports in Italy suggest they are still prepared for one last transfer.

Jose Mourinho recently stated that he would wait until 6 days before the end of the transfer campaign in order to decide whether or not to pursue his target.

Sportmediaset claims that the coach is ready to offload some deadwood at the club in order to raise enough cash to tempt the Dragoes for Quaresma.

Porto are asking for €27m and this figure could be reached if the Beneamata put the three players up for sale.

The ‘Special One’ did say that he would be cutting the squad size down and Crespo, Suazo and Pele are all favourites to leave the San Siro come August 31.

Dejan Stankovic also looks set to leave and join Juventus. Inter will make €8m from the Serbian’s sale if he moves to Turin according to reports.
