Samuel is one of our most fit players at the moment,much more than Cordoba.He didnt play in the Super Cup because he is the natural replacement for Materazzi,who apart from being an obvious starter,was also in a very good shape.
I dont know,I still keep my reservations on Cordoba's defensive abilities.

But that is why, of course, you might suddenly start defending with a higher line. You won't be as worried about getting caught in behind and this means that Vieira will be able to play quite close in front of the back two without stretching the team so far. And lord knows then you might get a bit of fluidity and movement to your team shape. Heaven forbid. It will take adjustments, but I wouldn't bet that those adjustments don't strengthen the team rather than weaken it.

I am quite sure matrix and samuel played some games together last season....On those occasions who played on the right of the defense?

Anyway mancio will pick cordoba ahead of samuel in the league....Partly because he prefers him and partly because of cordoba's suspension.....Only CL is the problem....There chivu and samuel have to play together....We have no other options unless we play rivas which is very very unlikely....

Fears over Azzurri defender Marco Materazzi are growing with reports that he may be sidelined until the New Year.

Materazzi was stretchered off in Wednesday night’s friendly against Hungary after an opposition player fell on top of him.

The severity of the injury didn’t become clear until the 34-year-old lost consciousness and began vomitting on the sidelines.

The main problem is a ruptured vein in his thigh muscle which has occurred as a result of internal bleeding following a serious trauma.

While initial reports suggested that the ex-Perugia man may be out for around three weeks, it now seems that he faces a much longer road to recovery.

“It’s tough to give a good diagnosis at this stage, but we hope to get him back before 2008,â€

PAVIA - Marco Materazzi was admitted to the orthopaedic clinic at the San Matteo hospital in Pavia during the night following the right thigh injury suffered in the final minutes of the first half of Italy's friendly against Hungary.

On his arrival at the clinic run by professor Francesco Benazzo, the Inter defender underwent Doppler ultrasound, magnetic resonance and ultrasound tests. Assisted by Inter's chief of medical staff Franco Combi, the player underwent surgery late this morning to drain the diagnosed hematoma using an endoscopy, and under ultrasound control.

During the operation, which lasted approximately one hour, the hematoma was successfully removed without making large incisions. The pressure on the inside of the thigh was reduced to avoid muscular necrosis and allow the player to start rehabilitation therapy with a timeframe to be determined.

Inter's medical staff wishes to thank the Italian national team's medical staff for their collaboration.
