Yes, definitely Maro. I’m far from saying this is a closed deal. The last word will always come from the owners of the club. But even though people want to compare this transfer with that of Toni, there are quite a number of little differences that need to be taken into consideration.

1.As you well said, the fact that Corvino came out publicly on the fact that they’re actually considering the deal.
2.The fact that Corvino already threw the ‘hot bottle’ in Mutu’s hands, by ending his declaration ‘in the end, we’ll hear what Mutu’s wills are’
3.That season, Toni was deemed as ‘impossible to substitute’ on what was the current market.
4.This year, Fiorentina has already spent somewhere near 45M Euros on new arrivals, and somehow, their books need to be settled a little better for the end of the year. Their situation 2 years ago was quite different.
5.Last but not least, I did forget the reason for this, but Diego Della Valle’s main reason to refuse the Toni transfer was for personal past disagreements with Moratti. I know forgot the reason for this, but I’m 100% sure that was the case back then.

But Tuna, players aren't that reasonable. They always want everything right now. Aquilani feels undervalued and doesn't want to wait another season and risk injury. He wants more money now. Besides, I am sure that players nowadays are able to negotiate contracts whenever they want.

Ahmed, I like two DM's, but Aquilani is good enough. I prefer two DM's because, typically, CM's aren't smart enough to understand how to legititmately cover on defense and attack. That is why the players who can are so valuable. Aquilani is one of these players who can really do both. He is not strictly attack minded. He understands tactics and plays his position very well. As he gains experience he will only become bette.r
