Lampard Offered Record Blues Deal

Chelsea are reported to have offered unsettled midfielder Frank Lampard a five-year contract worth £39 million - which if he accepts it would make him Britain's highest-paid player on £150,000-a-week.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Chelsea are hoping their lucrative offer will kill off the chances of former Blues manager Jose Mourinho luring Lampard to Inter Milan either this summer or next.

It adds that renewed talks between Lampard and Chelsea’s chief executive, Peter Kenyon, may have broken the impasse that saw the player apparently determined to leave Stamford Bridge.

If Lampard doesnt come this year, I just hope that he doesnt come next year. Whats the purpose of signing a 31-year old who would definately need some time of adaptation to a new league, for such a ridiculously high wage?
I'd rather get a much younger player, whom we might sign for a higher amount (obviously, since Lampard would be on a free), but at least has some decent margins of growth.
So, if we dont stand a chance of getting him this year, as it seems, then I'd be more than happy to know that he's signed a new contract with Chelsea.
