Juventus were good enough to win the scudetto last year and with the team improving slightly why couldn't they win this year.... Ranieri. The guy does not know how to win. I honestly "believe" every game we go into we have a chance to win... especially against the big teams because the motivation is greater. But, every team goes through ups and downs throughout the season and only the great coaches know how to make those down times shorter and less destructive. Sure, we achieved our expected goal last year, but we could have done better. Who says it won't be the same story this year.

Just because I don't think we can win the scudetto this year doesn't mean I won't root for Juventus to win every game. It just means I don't think we have the right pieces in place yet. I hope this is Ranieri's last season with us and I hope next year we but some good players. We will certainly have the money for it.

As for the mercato... I doubt we will buy anyone substantial. We still NEED a good left back, but Molinaro is Ranieri's boy and I doubt that will happen. We need to sell Tiago and get some money in the bank. We wasted a lot of money last year and need to start repairing those gaping wounds. Almiron will probably not net us much cash, so unless a good offer comes our way we might just have to let him rot and use him for cups only. Zebina is the best SB on our roster (which is depressing) and should be kept unless we want to have two bad SBs.

As for our signings next year... Well, I am always excited about who we could sign, but I think I see the pattern with this management and should know better. With players like Cassano and Rosina out for the taking we will probably grab Van Persie (injury prone and doesn't play in a role we need) and another OK player who the managment will tell us is great.

I think that we would need to look in some of the other team in calcio. Prandelli, Mazzari, maybe Donadoni.

Blanc: We Could Sign Stankovic

Juventus managing director Jean-Claude Blanc could perform a transfer u-turn after admitting that the club may sign Inter’s Dejan Stankovic.

Blanc announced last week that the Bianconeri would be buying no more outfield players this summer, having completed the capture of Sevilla midfielder Christian Poulsen.

Despite this announcement the Italian press has continued to link Juve with a number of players, and there have been reports that Inter’s Dejan Stankovic could arrive in Turin, possibly on loan.

"I think the team is closed," said Blanc.

"But if there was a chance, then Stankovic could play behind the strikers, in a midfield diamond, or act as cover for Pavel Nedved."

Prior to signing Poulsen, Juventus had been involved in advanced negotiations for Stankovic, and it was even erroneously reported at one stage that the transfer had all but been completed.

Juve supporters are heavily against the signing of Stankovic, and indeed launched a campaign against his transfer about a month ago. The player himself is not thought to be in new Inter boss Jose Mourinho’s first team plans.

Report: Aquilani Set To Stay At Roma

Amid conflicting reports, Il Messaggero now claims that Alberto Aquilani will pledge his future to Roma and sign a new contract, providing the club can guarantee he will be a key part of coach Luciano Spalletti's plans.

Aquilani’s future at Roma has been looking increasingly uncertain in recent weeks due to problems over the renewal of his contract.

The 24-year-old’s current deal runs out in 2010 and the player has been asking for around €2.5m in wages per year in order to sign an extension.

However, so far the highest offer Roma have been able to muster is €1.6m, and this has led to intense speculation that Aquilani will quit the club.

The midfielder is not short of options as both Juventus and Inter are very keen, and the player has thanked both clubs for their interest in him.

However, Il Messaggero now claims that Aquilani will pledge his future to Roma, providing the club can guarantee that he will be a key part of coach Luciano Spalletti's plans from this season onwards.

The idea is for Roma director Daniele Prade to meet with Aquilani’s representatives next week where the new contract will hopefully be signed, sealed and delivered.

Genoa bring in Olivera

Genoa have practically agreed a deal for Penarol and former Juventus midfielder Ruben Olivera, announced the club.
