Juve vie for Van Persie

Juventus have identified £15m-rated Arsenal star Robin Van Persie as the heir to Pavel Nedved.

The 24-year-old Dutchman joined the Gunners for £3m from Feyenoord in 2004 and, although he has struggled with injury, still managed to net 28 goals in 87 games for the club.

He also impressed during Euro 2008 and caught the eye of Inter before they plumped for Amantino Mancini.

Juve have a good chance of completing their swoop for Van Persie, as his contract expires in 2011 and he recently criticised Arsenal’s wage restrictions.

To be fair to both of them, it seems to have been the News of the World that started the rumour.

Who knows, it may be real, but as a target for next summer.

Actually Montolivo is versatile, he can either play at the centre or the left midfield. Rosina can take Nedved's role while Montolivo replaces Zanetti, wishfully.

That's a great price. I somehow like Tiago and would like him to succeed in our team, but that's unlikely, unfortunately, and this price is great.

I like what the management does. We won't win the Scudetto or CL this season most likely, but we are laying a very solid foundation. If all this is true we will have good money left in the warchest to improve in January or to spend more next summer (on Cassano and a Nedved replacement) to take the next step.

Spending 9 mil and still have a RELATIVELY young/talented team is not bad. I agree with GER in that Juve will spend big next summer and Cassano is already a Juve player by next summer. They're going to have money from the CL after they win it too. Don't know if any adjustments will be made on defense but there's no sense in starting Mellberg over Legro since Legro and Chiellini are already on the same page. I like to keep the back 4 like it is already. I have this feeling that after next summer or that of 2011, we're gonna have the same core of Juve players for 5 years after in Sissoko, Giovinco, Chiellini, Molinaro, and Cassano. Young, hungry and Italian, minus Sissoko. He's Sicilian

we're not done in this transfer market..I think we're going to get one more defender, and maybe try to exhange Iaquinta plus cash for Aquilani, and spend a little more and get Van persie. and get rid of zebina and almiron maybe tiago.
