Reading through all of yesterday's and today's posts and taking Tony's as a starting point...we need a centre back and a centre forward. He probably sees Juan as the weak link while I get so damned angry at Mexes at times. There will be no changes made there though...

On a centroavanti, Steve talks of Crespo and the plus factor there is he comes free but his salary demand could well be a stumbling block. Mutu, you all know I think is ideal for our system but it is such a long shot and the Viola won't let him go easily, however I too would like them both at Roma.

So many of you agreed that Il Bestione, Baptista, while good is not worth his asking price. I confess to liking Maro's suggestion of a possible loan deal in late August and if not the beast then perhaps Suazo! Yes, we probably did come into this calciomercato with no real definite target in mind...and now we have a little money let's just hope it isn't blown foolishly!

Dejan-Stankovic[ Delete ] Crespo would be very easy to get; he's either out of contract or he's the 6th striker at Inter. Mutu, on the other hand, appears just out of reach atm. Although, Fio spent something like 50 Million in the transfer market; they'll need to make that money back somehow

maro[ Delete ] 'Mancini' is a big loss, which is why everyone is anticiptating he will be replaced by an important signing. Giuly would be a loss too, but if he goes then again I'm sure it will be with someone coming in the other direction. Esposito and Itunes - for whatever reason - weren't deemed good enough last season; replacing them with players whom Spags might actually trust with a few important minutes here and there can only improve the squad, surely?

And I imagine it's also why Spags will be very keen for us to push for Di Natale.

He will want two players for each position (and three keepers) and he may allow himself, as he did last season with Cassetti, one or two further utility players on top of that. If Riise and Tonetto are both down at the same time, then he will adapt, as he had to last season, and play Cassetti there, or Cicinho. If Totti and Vooch both go down, we're in trouble, as we were last season, but surely that's exact

Right, that's a great team. I'd rather have Perrotta than Baptista, though. We would already be adding clinical finishing with Mutu and Crespo. Perrotta is too important to the shape of the team to replace with Baptista at the end of August. Assuming he has the characteristics to do what Perrotta does, he would not have the time to learn the nuances of the role which is so central to our entire system to be an immediate like (plus finishing) for like replacement. If it is possible to buy Mutu without including Perrotta I would like to do that.
