Milan technical director Leonardo claims that the Rossoneri are still chasing Premiershit stars Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Adebayor. The world champions’ striker hunt has been derailed somewhat by the vast price tags on some of their targets.

While Vice-President Adriano Galliani has confessed that the Diavolo are short of funds, Leonardo is more optimistic.

Pato not Kaka for Olympics

Brazil have named their Olympic squad with Milan starlet Alexandre Pato on the list but Kaka won’t be travelling to Beijing. The South American giants have been drawn against China, New Zealand and Belgium in Group C of the Olympic football tournament.

Ronaldinho, Robinho and Fluminese man Thiago Neves are the three overage players in the squad with Milan locking up star man Kaka. Pato, who was a revelation for the Diavolo last year, will have a chance to prove himself on the world stage.

The squad in full:

Milan Unimpressed By 'New Gilardino' Borriello
According to Tuttosport, AC Milan are completely unconvinced by the ability of Marco Borriello and are already considering offloading the striker.

Milan bought back the other half of Borriello’s contract from Genoa several weeks ago, following a stunning 2007/08 campaign for the Rossoblu.

The 26-year-old Borriello had scored just 11 goals in the top-flight in his entire career prior to last season. Despite being billed as one of Italy’s brightest talents as a youngster, it seemed as he was never going to fulfil this potential, as he was shipped off on loan by Milan to a host of minor and provincial sides such as Treviso, Empoli and Reggina.

After also failing a drugs test in December 2006, Milan sold 50 per cent of his contract to Genoa last summer, and it seemed that the chances of a really top class career was over for the forward.

However, Borriello exploded into life in the port city, scoring a stunning 19 goals, and finishing in third in the race for the Capocannoniere.

This pushed Milan to regain full ownership of the Neapolitan but, according to Tuttosport, they are still less than convinced about the ability of the frontman.

This has been proved by the Rossoneri’s desperate efforts to sign a world class striker, and by their relentless pursuit of both Ronaldinho and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Tuttosport says that another painful divorce between the two parties is inevitable, and coach Carlo Ancelotti clearly does not fancy Borriello, who he believes will be just another Alberto Gilardino.

Borriello will probably be offloaded in January unless he can prove Ancelotti wrong, yet the former Under-21 international may not receive too many first team opportunities if Milan sign another striker.

If Borriello fails to shine at San Siro and if Milan's endeavour to sign a world-class forward isn't adequate enough, Milan will be facing a huge offensive shortage next term. In other words, the team will be in real trouble, despite the new acquisitions.
