Dejan, I think Crespo will still serve a purpose somewhere in Italy but you don't need him, that's for sure.

Lomba, I've probably already said enough on Obinna in the Roma threads without carrying on here. Perhaps he will cure his underachieving as he matures but that remains to be seen. What I didn't like was the gossip news that he could be the key to closing the Mancini transfer.

Da Costa Denies Inter-Quaresma Deal
FC Porto chairman Pinto da Costa has insisted that no agreement with Inter Milan has been reached over the transfer of Ricardo Quaresma...

The Portuguese international has been a long-term target for José Mourinho, who is looking for a quality winger for his new squad.

Inter Milan and FC Porto have been in talks for several days now, and it was reported last week that the two clubs were very close to reaching an agreement.

But the Porto president has now made it clear that there is still a long way to go before Quaresma can be given the green light to move to Giuseppe Meazza, confirming, nonetheless, that negotiations between the two clubs are in progress.

"I have not reached any agreement. I am not going to say that it is all fantasy, but it is very far from being close," he said.

The Dragons' chairman stressed, meanwhile, that the Nerazzurri are not after Bruno Alves, unlike what had been reported by news sources in Portugal.

"That is completely false. In fact, Mourinho has already negated that," he concluded.

Wtf?it gets worse each day.I really can' imagine what the heck the porto president needs.Does he really think some club will shell out 40m for the player.It's insane.

It's high time quaresma had a say in this.

Is this is going to be another long and never ending transfer season?I thought chivu's transfer was dragged to the limit last season, this time around we have a similar situation on all three fronts.I hate to be in branca's shoes right now.

Inter And Roma Fail To Agree A Price For Mancini
Inter transfer guru, Marco Branca, failed to reach a deal with Roma over signing Amantino Mancini but all hope is not lost as the player may sign for them within a week.

Roma sporting director, Daniele Prade, flew to Milan on Thursday to discuss the possibility of the Giallorossi midfielder moving to the Nerazzurri.

It was reported that Inter would offer Victor Obinna plus €10m in order to lure Mancini to Milan however Roma were rooting for a cash-only deal.

Calciomercato claims that following a several hour meeting on Thursday evening, neither party were able to reach an agreement to strike a deal for the player.

However, it is not all bad news for Inter fans as a meeting between the two clubs is planned for next week where they will thrash out a deal.

€12m should be enough to convince Roma to allow Mancini to sign for Inter without Victor Obinna having to move to the Olimpico as part of the deal.

Mancini is likely to sign for Jose Mourinho as early as Monday as the player has already agreed personal terms with the club and all that is missing is the nod and the wink from Roma over the player's transfer fee.

Mancini has enjoyed a good five seasons with the Giallorossi but last term he began to have some problems with the Roma coaching staff and this has lead to the player deciding to move on.

Chelsea have officially released Argentine striker Hernan Crespo, who spent the last two seasons at Inter, after his contract expired.

Despite being owned by Chelsea since 2003, Crespo has spent the last four years in Italy with loan spells at Milan and Inter.

Ironically, Crespo’s last involvement at Stamford Bridge came under Jose Mourinho in 2005-06 but he was frozen out by the Portuguese Coach.

Relax guys, this is natural when you want a big player who's transfer value is high. If we cant manage to sort out a deal for Mancini of 15M euros with Roma, one can well imagine the length of a transfer of 40M Euros.
I cant guarantee we'll get Quaresma, but I am still of the opinion that we're in a good position. Thanks to the bad Euro he had, Quaresma has no other real buyers for that amount, so they will someday reach an agreement between the 40M Euro asking price from Porto & the 25M we're offering.

Prima la fugace tappa in Costiera Amalfitana, a Positano. Poi rotta verso Taormina, dove Frank Lampard ha scelto di trascorrere gran parte delle sue vacanze nel Bel Paese. Già, vacanze. La replica che il centrocampista del Chelsea riservava a chiunque osasse chiedergli novità sul proprio futuro: «Please, holiday». Lasciatemi respirare, almeno ora.

Il buon Frankie (sfortunato o maldestro, scegliete voi) è arrivato in Italia in pieno calciomercato, con l'Inter dichiaratamente sulle sue tracce e Mourinho impegnato in prima linea. Yeah Crespo is now a free agent. His agent was quoted as saying he wants to stay at Inter, but with the amount of strikers already in Inter's squad and The Special One's plans to cut down his squad, surely he won't be offered a new deal, right?

There's probably a 95% chance he won't be given a new contract. We have to dispose of at least 1 striker and if he's now a free agent, it wouldn't make sense to re-sign him.

Obinna signed for 4 years? I wonder if Mourinho has specifically asked for him or what the deal is here..
