I just don't like Alonso. I don't think he is an impactful player, and I don't think he has a strong enough personality for this team. I would much rather have Hamsik, but then again, I would prefer Hamsik to take over at Nedved's position, so the Alonso deal shouldn't kill the Hamsik one. I would like to see us linked with some Italian players soon, or some top prospect young players. Bowing out of the Veloso race seems like a stupid move, but I guess I have come to expect these things. Until Ranieri is gone, until the management are murdered by the fans... we will struggle. So far, this management have brought in 1 decent player in Sissoko, they have sold some key youngsters and overpaid for many wastes of space. Disturbing. Alonso better be the player all you are fantisising about, because I sure as hell don't see it.

As for our youngsters... the future of this team is screwed under this management. We might as well just start getting used to this managment buying a bunch of overpaid foriegn players.

New duo on Old Lady radar

Danish international Christian Poulsen and Parma’s Luca Cigarini are the latest midfielders to be linked with Juventus.

The Old Lady are on the hunt for a midfield reinforcement, but President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has ruled out a move for Sporting Lisbon’s Miguel Veloso, while talks over Xabi Alonso have stalled.

Reports in the peninsula suggest that the next name on the shopping list could be that of Sevilla star Poulsen.

The 28-year-old became known in Italy when Francesco Totti received a three-match ban for spitting at him at Euro 2004.

Poulsen has a rescission clause set at £8m and would be a cheaper alternative to Alonso or Veloso.

Sporting director Alessio Secco has been following the star for months and is reportedly ready to offer a contract of nearly £2m per season.

Meanwhile, Parma talent Cigarini [pictured] is back in the frame. The gifted 22-year-old is seen as a great prospect for the future and would be expected to jump at the chance to show his ability in Turin.

An Azzurrini fixture, Cigarini has been valued at £10m – a fee that Juve were reluctant to match, but may now consider as an investment.

I like Poulsen, but he is not good enough for Juventus. We would have been better off keeping Nocerino at this point. Cigarini is someone we should be going after regardless, but he will need to be loaned out for a year or two. Excellent young player though.

Report: Juve Bid €20.5m For Alonso

According to The Dail Mail, Juventus have made an improved €20.5m offer for Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso.

The Bianconeri have now all but given up hope of signing Roma’s Alberto Aquilani and Napoli’s Marek Hamisk, while Inter’s Dejan Stankovic is also highly unlikely to join following a fan protest.

This morning Sevilla midfielder Christian Poulsen was heavily linked with a move to Turin, however The Daily Mail says that Liverfekkin'wankscum star Xabi Alonso is still the primary transfer target.

Juve had seemed almost certain to sign the Spaniard a couple of weeks ago, until the move hit a snag over both the transfer fee and due to Alonso getting cold feet.

The Mail says that the Old Lady have now launched an improved bid for Alonso, offering Liverfekkin'wankscum a whopping €20.5m.

If the transfer is completed, this would be the second huge fee that Juve have paid Liverfekkin'wankscum for a player, following their €13m purchase of Momo Sissoko in January of this year.
