Cool Grasso. They were just doing a tour of the States, right? Did they play a lot of new shit? As for me, going to see Muse and Metallica in the next couple of months, and also the Oxegen music festival is on over here next weekend, but I'm not going to the full thing because its full of fuckin teeny-bopper teenage muppets, although I'm considering going down just for the Sunday as Rage Against the Machine are making their European comeback.

Shield, they didn't play too much new stuff. Most of the show was stuff off of Ten, Vs., and Vitalogy. They even played the mamasan trilogy (Alive, Once, Footsteps), right in a row, but out of order (2, 3, 1). It was a great show at the tailend of a short US tour. Only 20 or so shows in it I think.

You should really think about hitting that Rage show. I've only seen them once, years ago, but it was definitely one of the most impressive performances I've seen yet.

Ita, needless to say I first saw tender Alex Britti on the San Remo song festival which is where I also first saw Sergio Cammariere and in Cammariere's case, that song, his first hit <Tutto quello che un uomo> remains my favourite of his songs but I have to stress, the live San Remo first night version with all the tensed up emotion rather than the studio version.

I liked your Paola Turci film clip but I prefer her as she got older, much more sexy! Check out her <Questione di sguardi> video. I don't find Irene Grandi attractive as a woman but she can rock! Annalisa Minetti...now there's a Jekyll and Hyde situation. I'd have crawled on hands and knees all the way to Italy from Reading (outside London) to get at her as she was when she made <La Luce In Me> but I only ever liked her as she was then with her natural dark hair, didn't go for her at all as a dyed blonde. In saying that, Spagna is just that and I'd her every which way!

Michele Zarillo...I don't get why he keeps going back just to get a bloody nose! Repeatedly losing at San Remo doesn't help anyone's rep! I guess I like <Innamorando> and <Dimentica> best of his stuff. I didn't know he is a giallorosso!

On contemporary rock I never cared for Ligabue, I much prefer Piero Pelù.

Now Little Tony, the very first Italian artist I ever liked, from longer ago than I'm going to admit, is a hardened Romanista as I'm sure you know and there are too many of his songs I like to mention here. For some strange reason though I haven't liked anything he has done since <Non si cresce mai> the duet with Bobby Solo...but again, the San Remo 2003 version rather than the studio version which lacks emotion. I'd better give someone else a shot here, I could talk music all day and night!

Holy Jesus, you guys have been talking about Italian singers for the past couple of posts, yet you fail to write anything about the greatest Italian singer/songwriter alive.........VASCO!!!
How on earth can anyone who loves Italian music not mention him when talking about this subject??

Vasco Rossi, Lomba?

I know you'll never agree with the last few words of this statement...I like his music, his lyrics and arrangements, and he has always had a good, tight band. Good hard rock has always been my most favourite type of music, but to me he is one of these songwriters whose material I prefer to hear performed by someone else. I don't go for his voice.

In saying that I wouldn't change channels when he appears on Video Italia, Radio Italia tv, or wherever.
