Glad, pull your pants up. Yes blabba dabba, I did say that. My point was always Italy not winning with Totti being the focal point of the team. Lippi managed to suppress Totti's ego and play with the team as a team and that no 1 player was bigger than the team, unlike Trap. Italy just as good, if not better, without Totti. Don't even use the current Italy squad as an example, the coach is an ass-pirate.

Italy won this game because one of the few defenders that can control Luca Toni is on vacation or in Rome. Toni may not have scored but he put a lot of pressure on the French defense. How Domenech left Mexes off the squad is beyond me. He obviously wasn't too impressed with his central defense replacements.

Jamoldo, l agree that Luca has not being getting the job done and has looked way below his best (I even heard a BBC pundit claiming he is only a "poor mans Peter Crouch"), and I have been criticising him to no end after each game. Having said that, though, I don't think dropping him for the next game would be the right decision. Despite all Donaphoney's changes, the one constant upfront has been Luca Toni playing at the top, and all the players are used to having a big target man who they can hoof one up too and who can hold onto the ball. Now, even though Luca has so far being brutal at holding up the ball, and has been way below average when put through from a long ball, his luck is going to have to change at some point. It can't get any worse for him really, unless he gets sent-off for diving (which, with the way he has been throwing himself to the floor like a sack of extremely wet and heavy spuds recently, is a distinct possibility). Bringing in Boriello from the off now is too big of a risk, especially in a do-or-die knock-out game with the favorites for the competition, as he is to inexperienced at this level and would most likely flop. Toni may also flop, but he can't flop anymore than he has already flopped, yet the man is a natural born goal-scorer and so he may get his feet back and his luck may change and he may bang in that all-important first goal for himself.
