I've seen the both sides of healthcare. Back home we have free healthcare as well as privatized healthcare. Let me tell you, the difference between the two is night and day. I, on very rare occasions, would opt to go to government run clinics or hospitals. The facilities are, in many cases, in terrible condition, the lines are long, and the quality of doctors is quite poor. In fact I was speaking to my uncle, who for a short while was a surgeon at a government owned hospital, about the quality of doctors and he told me that reason these doctors are so bad is because they're the ones who were not good enough to get jobs in their own countries. So they come to Kuwait get a substantially better salary than they would at their own countries, although what they would get paid is shit compared to what doctors in the private sector would get paid. This made me wonder why anyone would chose to go to a government owned hospital over a private hospital. The reason I know is because not everyone could afford it. I've seen it first hand and it is expensive. So I guess the solution to the US problem would be to have a mix of both systems no?
