Roma are convinced they can land Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez for a reasonable price.

With the Germany international struggling to see action in Euro2008, Corriere dello Sport says Gomez's price has frozen at around Ã‚Â£11 million.

The striker's agent, Uli Ferber, is working with Italian Oscar Damiani to find him a move to Serie A.

Barcelona midfielder Lionel Messi is reportedly attracting the attention of Roma after another impressive campaign for the Catalan club.

Personally, I'm starting to get quite excited about this transfer season - imagine if we manage to sign Saha and Riise and then the boy from Portsmouth too. It'll be just like watching the best league in the world only under the Italian sun. Populusque, does it hurt even more to consider that we picked up Andreolli as part of the Chivu deal while Grosso headed off to France?
