Thanks for your consideration, administrator. But it doesn't have to in the Transfer thread, however, as really its up to us all where we want to post what. There are no hard and fast rules here. If an admin was inclined to suggest all transfer rumors and the like should be posted in the Transfer thread, then that is fine, but is users do not want to and would rather keep it all in the one thread for the sake of discussion and ease, then that too would also be fine, now wouldn't it?

One thing I'll give Milano is that not only is he right in this sense, as its not like Petrucci is going to some crap team. He's going to United, a squad that has title experience and a winning atmosphere where I am sure he will learn a lot (not necessarily play though).

w2k, that may be the case, but it seems he's far more talented than the other youngsters. Don't the best players usually get the most money? I don't think Totti is on the same wages as say, Pit or Barusso (ok that's pushing it), mmm, how about Taddei.

Frenchie, our club is not poor. It's one of the top 10 richest in Europe actually, according to Forbes. The parent company is in debts and poor but not our beloved club itself.

Maro, I have to disagree with you in that I think the atmosphere at the stadium is a huge thing for the players and game day, not just the viewers on TV, although I will concede the point about selling shirts and its growing importance. While big clubs like Man U prey from Italian teams, we all prey from the village Serie C clubs. We offer those players more money, a better track record and a chance to make it into the big time. While not a perfect analogy, I think it fits well enough.

While the entire Chinese player argument has plenty of validity (and there have been some Chinese flops), we did the same thing with Nakata earlier this milennium and it worked decently, as Japanese tourists in Rome came by the droves, purchased shirts etc (it also did not hurt that he was a very good vice Totti). Now if we had a half competent management and marketing team, Roma would be by far the most popular European Club in Japan, but its not. Nakata is still huge there and now he's a model post-football. Imagine the possibilities that were there then when he was a player and that would have remained now had we handled it properly. Look at how United have handled Park Ji Sung, a very good player, but by no means a starting 11 player at Old Trafford, they rotate him in well, he contributes, and he's marketed well. The Koreans, who were already Prem fans are more drawn to United and the league itself through Park. It's something we can learn from them and apply it to our club's model. Indeed we could have been the first club to really pull it off and set a precedent, showing the world an Italian club comprised mostly of local and Italian players could do well in an increasingly competitive and globalized world, but like all things Roma...

I agree with u Maro. It s painful to realize the way football has taken. It would be ideal to remain strong, to keep and attract good players, and not to loose anything that makes our Roma so great. Unfortunately, I am not sure things are going to change soon. Platini says he would like to bring some changes to better protect the "smaller"clubs, we'll have to see what is actually done.
Anyway, we have to keep faith in this management, it's just so hard sometimes...and worrying to see how our team is moving in the transfer market. Nothing done yet.....and nothing official about the re-signing of Vucinic and Aquilani...
