Ancelotti 'agrees to Chelsea switch'
Milan reluctant to allow coach to leave

Carlo Ancelotti has agreed to take the vacant managerial position at Chelsea after talks between the Milan manager's representatives and the London club, according to Sky Sports.

However, Milan are believed to be unwilling to let their coach of seven years go without a fight.

Roman Abramovich is confident that compensation issues will not prove an obstacle, and with Mark Hughes edging towards Manchester City, Ancelotti has apparently become Chelsea's No1 target.

Ancelotti, who reports suggest was not personally part of the talks, has steered Milan to one Serie A title and two Champions League triumphs since taking over in 2001. The Rossoneri, though, failed to qualify for next season's Champions League after finishing fifth in Serie A.

This is all coming from Sky Sports News "sources", but who knows what that means. I'm watching Sky Sports News now and they're confirming that Chelsea have agreed a deal with Ancelotti's advisors but have yet to reach an agreement with Milan, much as reported, so it doesn't mean its going to happen. I would still question these "sources", and I really couldn't of imagined that Carlo would want out of Milan.

A statement from Chelsea, in reaction to this news:

"Contrary to reports Chelsea football club have not reached an agreement with any person with regards to a new manager and have not contacted any club on this matter".

Just heard it on Sky Sports News there. I told you it was all bullshit.


EDIT: From Chelsea's official website home page:

"Contrary to reports Chelsea Football Club has not reached agreement with any individual to become manager, nor have we sought permission from any organisation to talk to their manager."

Personally, I think it's the perfect fit and have been surprised more hasn't been made of it as a possibility. Chelski are surely looking for a guy with a great CL track-record, who likes to play a more elegant attacking game than they've been playing, and who is a man of dignity and good grace who will help the club earn a few new friends. That is what the word is on the street over here, anyway. And Carlo speaks to all of those better than probably anyone else in the world. Added to that, I don't Milan want to sack Carlo, but I'm not sure they wouldn't be happy enough to see him depart amicably, for the good of all. His cycle has run its course. Of course, if he stays it'll be to start a new cycle, but with someone like Rijkard available now, I could see all parties being happy enough if it happens. He won't be pushed out the door and he won't be racing out the door, but it does make some sense. And it'd be interesting to see what the Premiershit would make of a man of dignity and integrity. That would be something they're not particularly used to.

I actually thoughtt this was all fantasy until today but from what I understand it goes like this

Carletto was Chelski's undisputed 1st choice, did meet with officials of that plastic club only to reject a mega offer (10 millions a year) and leave them in trouble as they scramble to find a quality name, Chelski are reportedly very pissed off at Carlo for fooling them:D

La federazione bulgara ha chiesto l'esclusione del Cska Sofia dai preliminari della prossima Champions League: la squadra campione di Bulgaria risulta notevolmente indebitata con il governo e con le banche bulgare, tanto da portare ad una importante sanzione. Notizia di secondo piano? Nient'affatto. Se l'Uefa, che in settimana dovrebbe esprimersi sulle questione, dovesse infatti confermare l'esclusione del club balcanico, il posto nel secondo turno preliminare della Champions League dovrebbe spettare per regolamento non alla seconda classificata del campionato bulgaro, ma alla squadra con il più alto coefficiente Uefa esclusa dalla massima competizione: ovvero, a sorpresa, il Milan. Il caso ha un "semi-precedente" proprio con i Rossoneri: quando nel 2006 il Milan fu messo sotto inchiesta per la faccenda Calciopoli, il suo posto nei preliminari contro la Stella Rossa era stato reclamato con diritto maturato dai medesimi requisiti, dal Lens. Si attende dunque qualcosa di più concreto nelle prossime ore anche da parte della società di Via Turati, che nella giornata di domani potrebbe già consultare i suoi legali specializzati.

That's pretty interesting, if uefa deems CSKA Sofia is in to much debt to play in the CL, milan might take their place because they have the highest UEFA ranking among teams not in CL. Any chance of this actually happening?
