Nessuna offerta o manifestazione di interesse da parte di George Soros o di fondi direttamente o indirettamente facenti capo o riferimento allo stesso. E nessun incontro in programma con rappresentanti di Inner Circle Sport. E' il contenuto dell'ultimo comunicato Italpetroli: "Con riferimento alle notizie diffuse con reiterazione dai principali organi di stampa e di informazione - si legge in una nota emessa da As Roma - in merito agli assetti proprietari A.S. Roma S.p.A., Compagnia Italpetroli S.p.A., nella sua qualità di controllante indiretta, precisa quanto segue. Nel richiamare quanto già espresso nei propri comunicati stampa del 23 e 24 maggio 2008 e nei precedenti, Compagnia Italpetroli ribadisce, ancora una volta, di non aver ricevuto e/o accettato, direttamente o indirettamente, alcuna manifestazione di interesse o offerta relativa all’acquisizione della propria partecipazione di controllo in A.S. Roma, da parte di Inner Circle Sports e/o del Sig. George Soros o di fondi direttamente o indirettamente facenti capo o riferimento allo stesso. Compagnia Italpetroli precisa inoltre di non aver raggiunto alcun accordo, direttamente o indirettamente, o sottoscritto alcun preaccordo, relativamente a tale partecipazione, né di aver in corso alcun processo volto alla dismissione della stessa. Infine, si precisa non è previsto alcun incontro tra i propri rappresentanti e quelli di Inner Circle Sports finalizzato alla sottoscrizione di un accordo per la cessione del pacchetto azionario di A.S. Roma; pertanto, tali notizie diffuse, così come quelle relative a date, informazioni finanziarie e programmi, devono ritenersi non corrette e prive di ogni fondamento".

So let's say one of you guys hits a Mega Jackpot of 250mil. Would you then buy out half of Roma???

It seems like the articles have a much more serious tone to them this time round. Are we on the brink of a takeover? All the signs point towards yes.

There's a part of me that wants this to happen. The thought of Roma signing three world class players this summer and acquiring squad depth sends the mind into a daydream. We would win the Scudetto for sure. Someone even made the claim that Totti would lift the Champions League. While the thought intrigues me, I simply wish to advocate a more competitive Roma.

But then there's the little voice in your head saying "you sold out". Will this be the same Roma I fell in love with or just a well marketed shadow of it's former self? I have come to the conclusion that I have to start thinking what's best for Roma and not what's best for me. This takeover is what Roma needs. We will fall back down to Earth next season under the funding of the current structure, with the millions being pumped into clubs elsewhere. Three top signings along with three depth players would see this club lift some silverware, and we owe ourselves this oppertunity. I just want what's best for the club, and indeed for calcio.
