quite honestly, i think Ibrahimovic single-handedly won Inter the scudetto from the start. he is quite the driving force and Capello wasn't wrong about him. we were just stupid not to get him back then.

I noticed that you guys say "fuck me" often in your posts. Is this a Romanista thing or just part of the lingo of where you guys are from???

I suspect we're not used to hanging around with people who take such turns of phrase quite so literally, Dino. 'moldy, you are very patient with old briz. I went into the Inter board yesterday to post my disappointed congratulations, but when I saw that two of the first 'celebratory' posts were as much about hostility towards the Romanisti as true celebration of their own success, I figured any generosity of spirit would be wasted - and, anyway, lost any that I had had.

Now, no doubt, eyes turn to the feeble 'consolation' of the Coppa final, for which, quite possibly, Inter won't show again and we will have to do our bit to celebrate gloriously a trophy won without all that much glory. Actually, I'm not all that disappointed today as I only ever really allowed myself to believe it was possible for about 15 minutes at the beginning of the second half, though I knew we were stuffed unless Parma could manage to score first. And then thoughts will turn to dealings over the summer and on to Euro 2008. It will be interesting to see if the Soros stuff moves as swiftly as it appears it may at the end of the month; it seems to me that there's something serious coiled and waiting to be sprung into life. No doubt that will trouble some of us and delight others.

I have to say, my grumbles this season are less with those points we dropped against the so-called smaller teams, per se, since that happens to all clubs and it's too easy to overlook the small margins which separate the big teams from the not-quite-so-big ones in one-off games. My grumble, rather, is with our performance in the matches on which it was clear an awful lot was hanging - just because of the way the contours of the season unfolded. I'm thinking, for instance, of the performance in the first half against Rube or in the derby or against Livorno. It was clear before each of those games that by winning we could start to ask properly serious questions of Inter, start suddenly to get very close indeed to them. And in each case the boys didn't pull out a big performance. That, for me, is the greatest disappointment. I suppose the game against Inter at the San Siro would be an exception, but even the win against Milan at home felt to me as though it came more from fortune than from genuine steel. Anyway, we shall see what unfolds now. 82 points entails a fabulous season and we are, surely, pretty darn close to equivalent to Arsenal at the moment, that club which is repeatedly celebrated to the skies. This season they got closer to the top two; this season at least they led the table for long chunks; still, they are a side whose football is richer than their trophy cabinet, a club which is struggling with its strict wage structure, and which has tended to wheel and deal in the market rather than make splash the cash. It is, I think, a good comparison for us to remind ourselves of - and a good one for them to remember too. For us it gives cause for optimism; for them, it is, I suspect, a salutary warning. Forza la Magica, gentlemen. As ever, it is a pleasure and a privilege to be able to share the disappointments and the joys, the hopes and the hopes dashed, with you all.

Yes great season but obviously when we analyse some of the results, it is even more painful to see that only a few points are separating us from Inter.
You explained the reasons....a few games where we did not manage to get the job done. However, no team can be 100% during the whole season and Inter had actually more bad times than us but managed to get the points when needed. Thanks to what???
The beautiful football they have been playing???...certainly not!!!
Maybe more detpth in their squad but I can't accept the fact that so many referees mistakes went in their favour....SerieA is to disgust...
