Figo Kills Unlucky Black Cat
Inter winger Luis Figo has been accused of deliberately running over and killing an unlucky black cat outside the club’s training ground.

In Italy there are many superstitions, and one of these is that if a black cat crosses your intended path, then bad luck will befall you.

With three games of the season remaining Inter had seemed destined to win the Scudetto, as they had been six points clear at the top. However a defeat to Milan and draw with Siena means they are only one point ahead of Roma going into the final round of the season, and they are in danger of a complete collapse.

The Nerazzurri have been hit with a host of injuries, dressing room quarrels, and other so-called bad luck stories.

Vittorio Feltri, editor of the Libero newspaper, claimed last week that Figo had run over and killed a black cat near Inter’s training ground because it was said to be bringing the team bad luck.

Mr Feltri wrote: “I am going to tell you a sad story that may seem like a fable but it is true. There once was a beautiful black cat. It lived at Appiano Gentile [Inter’s training round].

“It loved to stretch out on the grass where the Inter players would practice. It had never hurt anyone. It dozed, sprawled and with its paw would wash itself. Its problems began when someone noticed it at the edge of the pitch — oh no a black cat.

“We are in the Third Millennium, the witches have all been burnt centuries ago but there are still imbeciles who believe that a black cat brings bad luck.â€

Why not try to win the Coppa and get the double. Even though you guys fell over the finish line, you still did so first and should be commended for winning the championship. Congrats and enjoy the moment.

As for Mancini, I don't know if he's really united the team. If anything it seems like the Inter locker room is a mess. What about him publicly stating his resignation only to take it back? What a joke...

Give him time? Mancini joined Inter after the end of the 2004 season. Inter is a massive club and should find a world class manager.

Briz, I have no idea why you're being so hostile and acting like a mentally challenged squirrel. So I sincerely congratulate Inter on taking the scudetto. This becomes an insult.

Then I say that Mancini is a crap coach. I personally think he is (and this is my opinion, you're welcome to yours) and that Inter have won in spite of him, not because. Who else publicly resigns in the middle of a campaign and then takes it back? Remember he has well over 20 very high level players from which to choose and a nice salary/transfer budget.

Oh wait, Roma don't have the salary/transfer budgets, in fact, in the past four years Roma has made profits from the transfer market (not due to good management), yet with this and a salary cap, Spalletti has made the team perennial runner-ups. Think about it, Roma was 30 minutes away from the Scudetto yesterday, despite having a much smaller squad and resources. Oh and we went further in Europe this year too. You know, that whole CL thing...

Perhaps if you bothered reading my posts (I know some things about Inter's history, Herrera in the 60s, Matthaeus and Klinnsmann in the late 80s), you would see I'm actually very pessimisstic regarding Roma's chances next season unless significant additions are made and some money is spent (which it won't be), while Inter, Milan, Juve, Fiorentina and others will strengthen and only get better.
