Amauri Deserves Brazil Call - Zamparini


Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini is pushing for his star player, Amauri, to be called-up by the Brazilian national team following another excellent season.

Zamparini believes that Brazil's national team coach Carlos Dunga should call-up Amauri, as he deserves to represent his country.

"I don't know anything about the call-ups of the Brazilian national team coach, Carlos Dunga, but I would be happy if he also called-up Amauri, because he is a lad who deserves it," declared the Palermo president to 'Radio Kiss Kiss'.

"I think that he will be called-up constantly when he signs for a big club," he continued.

"I don't know if he will remain in Italy next year, it all depends from the offers that we shall receive. Right now we have received two offers and they are both from foreign teams."

The volcanic president has no intention of commenting about coach Francesco Guidolin's future and instead spoke about the upcoming league clash against Inter.

"The result of Sunday's game will also depend from the mentality with which we shall face the Nerazzurri. What is certain is that we will need to attack them," concluded Zamparini.

Zampa to call back Colantuono?

Rumours are circulating that Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini will sack Francesco Guidolin and reinstate Stefano Colantuono.

The notoriously impatient Zamparini axed former Atalanta boss Colantuono at the end of November with the Sicilians in sixth place and brought Guidolin back for his third spell at the club.

However, things have deteriorated under the new man and the Rosanero are now locked in mid-table and realistically out of the race for UEFA Cup football after a 2-1 defeat against lowly Parma.

Zampa insisted that he wouldn’t give Guidolin the push last night, but he seems angrier in the cold light of day.

I'm Looking For A New President - Zamparini
Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini talked about the team's recent form and admitted he is considering letting another chairman to take over the club.

Palermo's defeat to 10-man Parma last night might have some unexpected consequences. Fiery chairman Maurizio Zamparini has announced he may be about to leave the club to another president.

"I'm looking for another president to take over the team who will be able to be close to the team. I will still remain the main shareholder," said Zamparini.

He then complained about the referees' attitude towards his team: "I feel like there's a strange atmosphere around the team, sometimes small things go in our favor, but we often suffer some major injustice. The players feel this too when they come on the pitch. But it must be said we are playing poorly."

On coach Francesco Guidolin, he said: "Yesterday he continued playing with a lone striker even when Parma were down to ten men. Lack of courage? I don't think so. I'd say he doesn't believe in the team anymore."

Guidolin and Zamparini are known to have a tumultuous relationship, as Guidolin has already been sacked twice as Palermo coach, so it's unlikely it will happen a third time.

We'll Lose Against Napoli - Zamparini
Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini expressed his pessimism ahead of the match against Napoli.

Palermo have had a very tough week. After saying goodbye to coach Francesco Guidolin following three consecutive defeats, and welcoming back Stefano Colantuono, the Rosanero are now awaited by the tough away game against Napoli.

Ever-pessimistic president Maurizio Zamparini reiterated his bad feelings about this match: "Currently Napoli are better than us as a team, although we are better on an individual level. Napoli are more in form than us and they're favorites, I'm 90% sure Palermo will lose."

Zamparini then talked about Colantuono's return after his own sacking back in November following a 5-0 defeat to Juventus: "I expected a different season. Certainly I wouldn't have been happy with just a Uefa Cup place at the start of the season.

"It's not just because of Guidolin. We made a mistake in our evaluation of the squad's quality, and now we are fighting against relegation. Colantuono is really eager to do well with us. I hope the results in this last part of the season, but it will be a difficult task."

Palermo Permit Cavani To Leave On Loan

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has revealed that they are open to the possibility of Edison

Cavani leaving the club - but only temporarily.

Reports in Italy claimed that the 21-year-old Uruguayan striker was set for a loan switch to the Giallorossi following his impressive season at the Renzo Barbera, but Zamparini has already shut down that avenue as he is not convinced that Cavani will get enough playing time at the capital.

He is, however, willing to let him join a suitable club, with Premiershit side West Ham being touted as a possible destination.

"I am considering whether Cavani can go to speak with another club," said the Rosanero supremo. "If he was to find little space at Palermo.

"But, in the future, Cavani is destined to become one of the best players in Europe."

Cavani signed for the Rosanero in 2007 from Danubio and he has scored seven goals in 40 appearances for his club.

Palermo are currently in the process of reinforcing their squad as they attempt to reach Europe next season.

Foschi: Guana Not Leaving Palermo

Palermo director of sports Rino Foschi has rebuffed the claims that midfielder Roberto Guana will be leaving the club to join Fiorentina as it has been rumoured in the past few days.

Guana is and will remain a Rosanero player according to Foschi who wanted to make it clear that the Viola have never approached them to sign the player.

"As far as I know, Fiorentina have never been interested in purchasing Roberto Guana, since Palermo have no desire to lose the player," commented the director of sports to 'violanews.com'.

"Also, Guana has many times declared his desire to remain a Rosanero player and continue the adventure with coach Colantuono," he added.

Foschi also confirmed that Capuano will remain with the Sicilian club, as the club did not receive any interesting offers.

In the meantime, Morris Carrozzieri is expected to sign a 3-year deal for Palermo in the coming days or even hours.

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has outlined his plan to build a new stadium for the Aquile. The Rosanero have been in their current location previously known as Littorio and La Favorita before adopting the name Renzo Barbera in 2002 in memory of a former President.

The stadium currently holds around 38,000, but Zamparini is hoping to move to grander surroundings.
