Mauro Camoranesi has proved his worth in recent weeks. Antonio Labbate praises Juventus’ unsung hero
Where would Juventus have been without Mauro Camoranesi in 2007-08? It’s a query worth pondering, especially when you take into account what kind of form the South American has been in this term. But the real question, given the extent of the winger’s scintillating performances, is what more could the Old Lady have achieved had he been available to them all season?
It has been a campaign of two halves for the former Verona player. Held back by niggling injuries in the early part, only in the final few months of the campionato has he been able to fully serve the Juve cause. His appearance against Lazio on Sunday was just his 20th from a possible 35 League games, a tally which has potentially cost the club some valuable points.
That statement is purely hypothetical of course, but one must take into account just what Camoranesi has added to the Bianconeri’s Champions League push. He’s ‘only’ scored five goals – two of which were against Inter – but he’s developed into an accomplished goal maker in the final straight.
It was the 31-year-old who grabbed all three assists in the 3-2 win over Milan, he then provided two more in the 3-0 over Parma and got another treble – as well as a goal – in the 5-2 destruction of Lazio at the weekend. That victory ensured a top four finish, but with Roma just five points ahead in second there will be a touch of regret amongst the most demanding fans in Turin.
Claudio Ranieri is clearly aware of Mauro’s ability and the tactician has done nothing to hide his admiration for the international. “Camoranesi is the key to everything,â€

Bam, right after I stated yesterday that Camo was our Player of the Year. It was no coincidence that Juve played like shit without him and had to grind out some results. He missed half the season, who knows how many more goals our forwards could have scored??? Who knows how many more he could've scored?? We dropped points vs crappy teams because of his absense which is why I really don't blame the ref errors for not finishing higher than 3rd.

Come saràla maglia ufficiale della Juventus per la stagione 2008/2009? Quale vestito indosserànella prossima annata l'Inter? Come si vestiràil Milan sempre più vicino al ritorno in Europa? La redazione del "Nesti Channel" si è interrogata sul vestiario delle tre grandi squadre del campionato italiano, riuscendo ad anticipare il design delle tre casacche più desiderate d'Italia.
Juventus:
Design: La nuova maglia per la stagione 2008/2009 abbandoneràil caratteristico colore rosso di questa stagione, rispolverando il giallo tanto caro nelle due stagioni vincenti di Capello. Il giallo sostituitàil rosso anche nelle divise di allenamento.
Prima Maglia: Le bande verticali di colore bianconero saranno sette, con quella nera, e non bianca, posizionata al centro. Lo stemma saràposizionato a sinistra. Il simbolo dello sponsor tecnico, anch'esso giallo, saràinvece collocato a sinistra. Non è presente il colletto, che avràuna mini banda elastica, sempre gialla, come congiunzione alla banda verticale nera. Nel retro del colletto saràimpressa la scritta semplificativa "Juve", e non la dicitura integrale "Juventus". L'orlo alla base della maglia saràgiallo, come quello presente al termine delle maniche. Le due stelle saranno posizionate rigorosamente sulla manica sinistra.
Casacca portiere: La casacca non saràappariscente, come da tradizione. Concessa la possibilitàdi adottare un'eventuale colorazione particolare, che rispecchi i gusti di Buffon. In passato indossatore di una casacca bianconera e di una interamente rosa.
Seconda Maglia: E' la grande novitàdello sponsor tecnico. Saràinteramente gialla. Di colore acceso e non sbiadito, definibile come canarino. I numeri, il logo e le stellette saranno nere. Abbandonato il blu a scapito del giallo, con pantaloncini e calzettoni del medesimo colore.
Numeri: Saranno gialli, senza scudo o quadrato nero come sfondo. Che saràinvece necessario sin dai primi appuntamenti nei preliminari di Champions League.
