Lippi mystified by Calciopoli

World Cup winner Marcello Lippi is asking for clarification on the future of Luciano Moggi, the disgraced former Juventus general director.

Moggi is currently banned from football for five years after he was implicated in the Calciopoli scandal which rocked Italian football in the summer of 2006.

“It would make me happy if Moggi would call me and explain what truly happened in the last two years, because I don’t know," admitted Lippi.

Lippi’s remarks are not without timing. Moggi and 15 other people were called before court yesterday to answer charges that they broke article one of the Italian code for sporting justice.

Just over a year ago it was revealed that Moggi had supplied a string of referees and club directors with mobile phone SIM cards, contravening article one.

Article one seeks to guarantee correctness and loyalty in the world of sport.

The Italian Press yesterday reported that Juventus could risk a fine despite spending 2006-07 in Serie B with a severe points penalty.

Bianconeri President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli responded quickly to the news, defending the Turin giants’ reputation.

“In this moment there are people trying to carry Juventus into something that has nothing to do with sport,â€

Strangely enough, last night I had a dream that Moggi stole my iPod. Really quite bizarre. I guess that now that he can no longer fix leagues, petty crime is more of his game.

Again with the ridiculous assumptions based purely on opinion. How can he be considered the most powerful man in calico from his position? Did he have more clout than the federation president (ex Milan President with interests in both Lazio and Roma)? Could he be more influential than league president (Milan VP)? Could he be more influential than the league and federation sponsor(Inter Owner)?, or more powerful than the monopolistic TV right owners (Mediaset Presided by Milan VP)? Could he be more influential than the Presidente del Consiglio (Milan Owner)?????????

Moggi was the most powerful? Based on what? Then you guys mention fantasies as though you have none.

The real problem here is that a group of guys bought into a theory that a man was corrupt without asking why or how. You hate him and therefore he is corrupt.



You guys keep patting yourselves on the back for saying nothing at all. Grasso, in Italy, your dream is enough to convict Moggi and some people here haven't understood that yet.

This is what I don't get. How did Moggi get all this "power" and from where given that there are people more powerful than him in this world of crime as ju stated. It makes you think and based on that from my own conclusions that either these higher people were cooperating with him or just Moggi was doing it under their noses. Judging from the fact that other teams were accused of the same thing and recieved a lesser sentence, then it leaves me to think that something else is up. All I hear in this thread is "Moggi this, Moggi that, Juve this, Juve that". Nobody dares to bring up what Galliani got away with??? I'm VERY VERY sure that Galliani is just as guilty as Moggi.

Galliani is as guilty as Moggi? You need to listen to the taps. It's not so much Galliani that incriminates himself but Meani. Milan really got away with one in 2006. The reason they got away with it is because their owners and directors actually do have power and leverage while Moggi had shit. If he really was powerful, when he wanted Paparesta suspended for the rest of the season (after Paparesta failed to award a legit penalty to Juve and further denied a legit goal against Reggina in 2004) he wouldn't have been refereeing the next week. That's some power he had.

Referring to the TAR rejection letter that was handed to Moggi about a month ago, we learned that he could not appeal in the TAR Regional Court based on the notion that Moggi managed to “psychologically conditionâ€

He's got a point ita... Moggi has already been sentenced for this BS. "New" evidence(although i could have sworn this was brought up in the original case) that proves an already convicted(i know it's not the correct word because it wasn't a court of law) man guilty is pointless.
