1. Happy Belated Steve, hope it was a good one.
2. Where's my position in this new Roma? I'm hurt. Can't I be head of global marketing or some shit? Or like head of Asia-Pacific?
3. I think that we are all glorifying the Sensis and pretty much only thinking negatively about foreign ownership. Why? Let's face it, we need new ownership to take us to the next level so that we do not continue to be the perennial loveable losers that we currently are. The next step needs to be taken and that does not automatically make us a Premiershit club.
4. Shield the comparison with EPL is a flawed one at best. The standard of technical ability in England is lacking compared to Spain and Italy (it's widely acknowledged in England), English/British talent is not cheap (ahem Darren Bent, Gareth Bale, Michael Carrick Theo Walcott etc), the value of the pound in current foreign exchange markets makes buying imported talent a wise decision (since it's cheaper and of higher quality than the domestic market can offer). It's why you see so many foreigners in the top 4 in the EPL... Mass marketing helps too.
5. Maro, I understand your sentiment about the Italian website and how we struggle with it (a sincere thanks for your compliment) but not everyone has the fortune to have Shieldy's passion or my (long ago) experience in studying the Italian language just to know general stuff about the team. There are plenty of fans who love Roma just as much that have a right to know about what is going on with their beloved club.

I just got back from India where I was for business for 10 days and spent the weekend with some extended family. The contrast between them (values, lifestyle, mentality etc) and what you see in cities like Mumbai, Delhi and even "conservative" Chennai has made me conclude that the world has passed them by, that they are going nowhere and that they are thrilled to death about it. While there are enough things that one may disapprove of in modern society (which is fair enough), they (my family) simply cannot face the fact that they are for the most part, no longer rich (family infighting, poor business decisions, a changing world, rise of families like the Mittals, Tatas, Ambanis etc) and that the year is 2008, not 1958. My extended family has its chances to do very very well back in the day but they were too busy bickering over meaningless things that they still talk about today or do so currently in different variations. And that's what worries me about Roma. That if we just sit still the world will pass it by and we'll all be wondering what could have been. Not a perfect analogy by any means but just something that struck me on the flight back to HK today...

Il capitano giallorosso, dimesso in mattinata da Villa Stuart, non si sbilancia sui tempi di recupero ma parla della possibilità di una proprietà americana


Alle 1120 di questa mattina Francesco Totti è stato dimesso dalla clinica Villa Stuart per tornare a casa e iniziare il periodo di rieducazione e di recupero della flesso-estensione del ginocchio destro. All'uscita, come sempre in questi giorni, è stato assalito dai giornalisti ed è apparso di ottimo umore.

"Contento di tornare a casa? Pure qui stavo a casa, mi hanno trattato benissimo - ha dichiarato il capitano della Roma - Sto bene ma è ancora presto per poter giudicare. La Roma agli americani? Per me la società deve sempre parlare romano. Quando tornerò mi aspetto di trovare una squadra più forte se vorremo essere competitivi".

Il medico sociale della Roma, Mario Brozzi, lasciando la clinica Villa Stuart, poco dopo l'uscita del numero 10 giallorosso, si è soffermato a descrivere le fasi di recupero che attenderanno adesso il giocatore romanista dopo l'operazione al ginocchio destro.

"Si inizierà un protocollo individualizzato tra casa e Trigoria - ha dichiarato Brozzi - ma l'evoluzione clinica fino ad adesso posso dire che è stata eccezionale. Il ginocchio di Francesco ha risposto molto bene e quindi nel complesso siamo soddisfatti". Sui tempi di recupero il medico giallorosso ha precisato che "le indicazioni le avremo giorno dopo giorno, ma posso dire che in questi casi i nostri giocatori sono tornati a correre a Trigoria dopo 20 giorni. Il primo passo - ha proseguito - sarà quello di far riprendere l'articolarità del ginocchio cercando di conservare il tono muscolare. Le premesse ci sono tutte perché lui ha già camminato e fatto le scale, quindi già da oggi inizierà la fase del recupero".
