Juventus to play in Australia next month

A-League club Melbourne Victory will play a one-off match against Italian giants Juventus at Telstra Dome next month.

Victory chairman Geoff Lord said Juventus had guaranteed they would send a squad that was close to full strength and he expected the May 30 clash to attract a huge amount of interest.

"Juventus to Italy are like Manchester United to the United Kingdom, they are one of the all-time great clubs in the world," Lord said.

"They have agreed to play one game in Australia ... there's no AFL football (in Melbourne) that night so we are hopeful it is a major spectacle and a major sporting event for the whole of Melbourne."

In particular, Lord said they were expecting a huge amount of interest from Melbourne's large Italian community.

Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri said in a press release issued by Melbourne Victory that he was looking forward to the game.

Now I guess Ita can finally call Juve a "marketing machine". Let's just hope that Soros deal doesn't go through so we can buy out Roma too.

Who thinks it is funny that tender Alex and Trez are second and third in the goal scoring charts, something we've all seen during Juve "cheating" era?? Had it not been for Borriello's 13 penalties, the two of them would top the charts. Trez at least has been consistent in that top 3 for years. Perhaps ju29 is on to something.... :mrgreen:

I wonder if they will have a 'juve walk of fame' located in the new stadium, highlighting the history of the la vecchia porca puttana. Somebody call Sollinass to help with a section of how juve took their to punishment like men for the good of the world game. I think there should be an image of Moggi being crucified on the cross, with Giraudo, Pairetto, Cararro and the rest of the apostles of crime on their knees at the foot of the cross along with Sepp Blatter as Pontius Pilate. Moratti and Rossi can be the ones carrying out the cruci-fiction. I would pay to see such an image.
