Well, I did not see this coming. I wonder what Arab interest there is for Roma. Actually, I would not be averse to such ownership. Other than my first preference, that being Italian/Roman ownership, I can certainly live with Arab ownership over a Soros takeover. I think Arabs understand Italians and the passion we have for Roma would certainly be appreciated by them. I have to admit I am biased however because I have very close Arab friends and I have to tell you in meeting their friends and families, I have never met a person of Arab descent that I did not like. I don't know what it is, but there is always a immediate connection. Plus, I had an intimate relationship with a Jordanian girl when I was a student, and as you guys already know, I studied Arabic out of respect for her parents who were just wonderful people. Ok, that's my story, what do you all think?

Kroo, the owners being Arab doesn't bother me. I guess the closer we get to being sold the more I want things to stay the same.
Remember the Arab group that supposedly made on offer for Inter several months back. Everyone believed it was for Roma and stock went up. I will guess they are the group.
300 million, a new stadium, guaranteeing jobs. I don't know how Roma turned Soros down. Can it be one of their dumb negotiating ploys?

Mercoledì scorso gli emissari di George Soros, Phill Hall e Steven Horowitz, erano nella capitale per fare l’offerta ufficiale all’AS Roma per l’acquisizione della societàgiallorossa. Tutto sembrava filare liscio, come confermatoci dalla nostra fonte che avevamo sentito durante questa settimana di intense trattative: alla Roma sarebbero stati offerti 300 milioni di euro, più la costruzione di uno stadio di proprietàe la promessa di mantenere all’interno dell’organigramma societario uomini di esperienza come Bruno Conti e Daniele Pradè, nonché lo stesso Amministratore Delegato Rosella Sensi. Qualcosa, tuttavia, sembrerebbe aver fatto frenare la trattativa tra Soros e la Roma. Sembrerebbe, appunto. E’ davvero veritiera questa voce che circola attualmente nelle segrete stanze di Trigoria che un gruppo arabo, di cui non si conosce il nome, si sia inserito nella trattativa tra il magnate americano di origini ungheresi e la stessa Roma? Ci permettiamo anche di rilevare che nei precedenti casi di rumors circa l’acquisto della Roma, si è subito saputo il nome dei probabili acquirenti della società, vedi Kerimov nel 2004, Fisher e ora Soros. Tutto fa pensare che questa mossa sia dettata dal fatto di disorientare gli organi di stampa verso un gruppo che, ripetiamo, è del tutto anonimo per far portare fino in fondo la trattativa in porto tra l’americano Soros e al societàgiallorossa. Diamo le nostre interpretazioni. George Soros, si sa, avrebbe voluto lavorare a fari spenti, ma qui a Roma non è possibile farlo: c’è troppo interesse e amore nei confronti di questa squadra. Ora all’improvviso, quando ieri ci davano l’accordo in dirittura di arrivo, escono fuori gli Arabi? Si sa, tutto può essere, per carità, ma potrebbe anche rappresentare una manovra per spostare l’attenzione e permettere di lavorare a fari spenti come forse era più giusto per la Roma. Ipotezziamo anche quanto segue: mettiamo il caso che Soros avesse "imposto" alla societàdi mettere uomini di sua fidicia all'interno dell'organigramma societario giallorosso e che, dunque, la trattativa fosse saltata proprio per questi motivi. L'idea che ci viene in mente è che sia stato tirato in ballo questo gruppo mediorientale per cercare di scoraggiare la cordata americana facente capo al magnate Soros. Ovviamente siamo nel campo delle ipotesi e delle interpretazioni, ma tutto fa pensare a quanto appena abbiamo scritto.

Soros is a business man so I doubt he is upset about the snub. He wants this team because it is a valuable asset. Men like him know what negotiating is like. If the 300 million figure is true, I doubt anyone would offer double. Also, 300 million for a first offer seems high. I guess Soros really wanted this club and wanted to finish it by the end of the day.

Im not so sure i like the idea of a new stadium...
that bein said.. one of you guys raised a good point in that with an Arab takeover bid, we're more likely to see fanatic buying a la chelsea... that is something, i think we can all agree on, that we can do without.
