Reports in the Italian media maintain Inter have agreed a five-year contract with Arsenal’s Alexander Hleb and £11m transfer.

While Barcelona among others were also interested in making a bid for the Belarus international, the newspapers in the peninsula insist there is only one winner.

Inter are said to have agreed a five-year contract with Hleb worth almost £2m per season plus a £11m transfer fee to the Gunners.

He is earmarked as the ideal replacement for Luis Figo, who is set to leave the club at the end of this term.

Figo had originally planned to retire and work as a director, but there is talk he has instead decided to keep going and end his career in America before training to be a Coach in Portugal.

Candidates for Figo’s position in the team had included Deco, but Inter considered the Barcelona midfielder to be too old for the ‘new’ Nerazzurri.

MILAN - Inter president Massimo Moratti was interviewed by Mediaset following his team's 2-0 win over Fiorentina.

The Nerazzurri president said: "The team created lots of chances. Frey did very well and made lots of nice saves. I was hoping that he would let a ball go through in the end... But our goalkeeper also did very well and he was decisive with that save in added time at the end of the second half.

"They never speak well of them, but I want to point out that the trio of referees were impeccable tonight. They were perfect. They did very well in a difficult match. The whole match was a wonderful spectacle, also for the values that Fiorentina represent, and this is nice for everyone who came to the stadium.

"I want to congratulate the whole team because it's not easy to play when you know that your main title rival has already won. I'm very pleased with Balotelli's performance tonight. I'm a fan of this player who is just seventeen years old. He replies in this way when called into action. Mancini did very well to play him in the right position. Mario is a quality player and he has shown it in these matches."

On Inter being a possible destination for Ronaldinho, Moratti commented: "I can say that it hasn't been defined yet. I think that Milan want to sign him, but we are interested as well. We will see. We have many things to look at before deciding, but from Barcelona and the people close to the player, we have the time and space to decide."

The president is not ruling out the arrival of new players in other positions. "We have been penalised by the many injuries in defence this year," he said. "The return of these players will give us more tranquillity. In any case, Burdisso was exceptional tonight. We will certainly make some moves on the transfer market, but we will look at things together with Mancini."
