Yes Italiamia, those are all very important questions. A situation like this is worrying for us because it brings the unknown. No one no's what this Soras' (he sounds like a character from Star Trek) intentions are for Roma. He is just some rich fecker who see's Roma as another means to an end: to make money. What if things don't go to plan for him if he should buy Roma, he could just put it down as a bogey investment and move on, leaving the club in tatters. It is a risky situation. For me personally, I don't want to see any rich megalomanic in charge of my club for a host of reasons.

It is hard to say what is best....the Roma that we all love but do not win much or a Roma owned by a rich foreigner who can spend money and win????

As much as I look forward or dream about a Scudetto or a final in Champions League, I'll be sad if this kind of guy was to buy LaMagica and spend huge amouts of money....at the end just to look like other shitty clubs from the Premiershit or Madrid.
Totti said something like that...." A SCUDETTO WITH ROMA IS 10 TIMES BETTER THAN 10 SCUDETTO WITH ANY OTHER TEAM". It means everything...players in Rome do no only play for big cash nor notoriety but for a jersey, a spirit, a city, for the fans.
If an American buys Roma, even though we may have more chance to win any silverware (not totally sure though), I am afraid the team, the spirit, everything we love about Roma may disappear.
Why is there no Italian interested??? Italiama....do really the one who love Roma would like to see the team owned by this kind of american fucker?? Don't tell me there is nobody in Italy who can invest in Roma....a guy with passion, a guy who would not allow the team to loose its spirit, a guy who would be able to invest money for better players and at the same time keep the same mentality and keep what makes our team so unique.
It's pissing me off to see another american willing to invest in something he has no clue about. I would love so much more to see a passionate face.
Please tell me it's not going to happen.

Italiamia, I actually thought about what Soros would think about Roma after looking into the club and I believe he would be even more interested. This is a club that profits more than most other clubs in Europe with virtually no marketing or merchandising (partly because we don't spend any money). They climbed out of massive debt in just a few short years ( but long for us). They have a rabid fan base and the the greatest marketing tool in the world ROMA. If you can market Manchester or Liverfekkin'wankscum it isn't very difficult to market Roma. I'm sure he is ready to make a bid as we speak. A man like Soros has already done his homework. With a little bit of transfer money and the right people on board this club can be as big as any other club in the world. I might be completely wrong but we all know Roma can't prosper like this.

Hasn't Serie A put certain rules in place so clubs cannot start a season in the red? I believe it may be the downfall of the EPL. Serie A already went through it and now the EPL seems to be following suit.

Soros is not your "average" multi-billionaire. We need to be run like a serious operation not a group home for wayward boys. However, Soros is 77 years old. He needs to realize that he is gonna have to put his heart specialist on speed dial.

I agree completely, Frenchesco. I hate the idea of someone coming in with masses and masses of money and using his cash to bulldoze his way to success. It's one of the things which sickens me in football enough as it is; I'm sorry, guys, I'd prefer to be a plucky loser than a billionaire bully. I'd just like us to have a little bit more money - for things to be run a bit more smoothly, a bit more efficiently, and for it not to be about recovering debts or losses. I'd just like the sense that we had a steady little run of money to spend each season in the transfer market. Still, I would rather it stayed as it is than Soros were to come in. I know there's a certain provinciality to that line of thought, but that's what matters most to me.

And Shield, he's a fekking palindrome so how can he be Soras? Geeze.

Guys why do we love Roma so much???
Isn't it because there is a culture other than the one made of money???
Isn'it because the wins have a special flavour in Rome???
Isn't it because we have players who breath Roma since they are kids???
Isn't it because our fans and the city are so passionate???
Isn't it because we still develop good young players???
Isn't it because our team does not include mercenary???

We can not be sure now of what will happen if this bastardoros buys As Roma but we may loose what we love most about this team. I think we'll even have more chance to loose the uniqueness of Roma more than win anything. Money helps but it would not make us win more.....passion would. I do not want to accept that the money is the future in football.

Lets be realistic for a second. Totti is coming to the end of his career. I think he can still be productive for the next three or four years but as it stands now this club may never see a player of his quality again. We can hope another Roman kid loves this club unconditionally and refuses the advances of other clubs and decides to lose while playing for the club he loves but that is highly unlikely. It is why we all respect Totti so much because in the end he loves the club more than us. We will need some money to buy talented players or at least pay the ones we develop.

You can sort of see that Soros' bid is serious because Galliani felt it necessary to comment and he is scared shitless of a Roma with money.

smiley, from what i gather, totti apparently publicly declaired which politician he is backing in the national elections and it happens to be berlusconi's opposition. i believe that don silvio realises totti's sphere of influence and is worried about losing votes - which he apparently will despite looking like a clear favorite. he publicly criticised totti as being 'crazy', in a rally in rome, because of his leanings and also for taking sides publicly and justifying his position because he had 'prohibited' his milan players to do so.
