Some interesting news....

The League (under massive pressure) have decided to reopen the Calciopoli case in Civil Court in Italy. The case will override the Sports Tribunal and is set to begin in the new year with an official announcement expected as early as the 20th of December, 2007.

With the case being re-opened in the Italy, The European Court of Commerce through Giu Le Mani Dalla Juve’s class action appeal, and the countless public trials regarding the scandal currently set to begin (including the arrests of key Telecom figures like Ghioni and Tavarolli) for evidence tampering and illegal espionage.
Tavarolli and Ghioni (ex-Telecom Security Managers responsible for the wire taps) have agreed to testify in court against their former directors (Tronchetti and Moratti). They are currently under arrest.

Well i dont know if anything will come from this or not, or if it's even worth it.
I, for one, am not counting on anything and am focused on what's happening with juve now in the league.

But one cannot deny that it's interesting news nonetheless

Interesting it is. Let's see what comes of it. I guess they really listened to these "Giu Le Mani" people. Tampered evidence??? Isn't that even more interesting. You don't
have to be a lawyer to know that if evidence was tampered with the case is already void. I've always found those sound bites a bit funny, as if they were edited.
Even in some sentences the voice changed as if they were pieced together.

Processo di Napoli, Moggi non si presenta

Luciano Moggi, così come la massima parte dei 37 imputati nel cosidetto processo di "Calciopoli", non si è presentato stamani all'udienza preliminare che si è tenuta al Palazzo di Giustizia del Centro direzionale di Napoli. L'accusa da cui l'ex direttore generale della Juventus dovrà difendersi è quella di frode sportiva.

Calciopoli: Moggi non si presenta all'udienza. Prime ammissioni di Paparesta

Al Palazzo di Giustizia di Napoli è cominciata oggi l'udienza preliminare, davanti al gup Eduardo De Gregorio, nei confronti di 37 imputati coinvolti nell'inchiesta su calciopoli. Il grande assente è Luciano Moggi, l'ex dirigente juventino, considerato il maggior artefice delle 'brutture' del calcio nostrano. L'udienza di oggi sarà dedicata in particolare alle questioni procedurali e alla costituzione delle parti. Hanno chiesto di costituirsi parte civile il Coni, la Figc, la Lega professionisti, la Rai e le societa' dell'Atalanta, Bologna, Brescia, Lecce, Roma, Udinese e Salernitana, nonche' la Federconsumatori e il Codacons. Sulle richieste, il giudice si pronuncera' nell'udienza del 25 gennaio 2008. I pm hanno depositato oggi nuovi documenti tra cui un'ampia informativa dei carabinieri e alcuni verbali relativi a recenti interrogatori.Uno di questi riguarda l'arbitro Gianluca Paparesta, che un interrogatorio avvenuto ieri sera ha ammesso di aver ricevuto da Luciano Moggi delle schede sim telefoniche. I pm hanno anche depositato nuove intercettazioni telefoniche sull'utenza di Moggi relative al periodo marzo 2006-febbraio 2007. Le telefonate, a quanto si è appreso, non riguarderebbero il campionato in corso

Paparesta Denies Receiving SIM Cards From Moggi

Referee Gianluca Paparesta, who was involved in the Calciopoli scandal, has rebuffed the reports in the Italian media that he admitted receiving SIM cards from former Juventus General Director Luciano Moggi.

A shroud of mystery now surrounds the deposition made by Paparesta yesterday during the interrogation by the prosecuting attorneys of Naples, Beatrice and Narducci.

Apparently, the referee had originally admitted to them that he, and other referees, were offered SIM Cards by Moggi and Luciano Fabiani, but later on in the day, after the news had been reported throughout all media, he made a statement to Ansa, declaring that this is all false.

"I never received SIM Cards by Moggi. It's false that I confessed such a thing," declared Paparesta.

However, it is rumoured that Paparesta did admit that Moggi was always present during the yearly referee meetings, even though it is yet unclear what transpired following his latest statement.

Fabio Capello under investigation

England coach Fabio Capello is being investigated by an Italian state prosecutor for allegedly withholding information to a court, a judicial source said today.

The prosecutor intends to bring a case against Capello and former Juventus director Antonio Giraudo after they gave evidence in a trial of six men accused of fostering unfair competition through the use of threats or violence as part of Italy's Gea World sports agency, the source said.

Capello had told the Rome court as a witness that he had never dealt with player contracts while in Italy and had never heard of players being put under pressure to sign specific agreements.

Former Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi, under whom Capello worked at Juventus from 2004 to 2006 and at Roma between 1999 and 2004, and Davide Lippi, the son of former Italy coach Marcello, are among the defendants.
