L'attaccante brasiliano del Palermo, Amauri ha dichiarato in conferenza stampa: "Il Milan è una squadra fortissima e lo ha dimostrato anche contro l'Arsenal, ma nel calcio non esistono squadre imbattibili e noi andremo a San Siro per giocarci la nostra partita. Sono molto dispiaciuto per l'infortunio di Ronaldo, che è sempre stato tra i miei giocatori preferiti. Dopo l'infortunio avevo detto che sarei tornato più forte di prima, penso di esserci riuscito perchè ora sono più maturo. Ammetto di essere rimasto un po' deluso dalla mancata convocazione nel Brasile, non ho sentito il ct Dunga. La pratica burocratica legata al mio passaporto italiano va avanti, spero che tutto si risolva in fretta. Spero di poter giocare gli Europei con l'Italia, ma in questo momento penso solo a fare bene con il Palermo".
no thank you. the WORLD CHAMPIONS should not be interested in brazil's table scraps. bringing in camoranesi was already a problem for me.

Agreed. I can deal with Camoranesi, he is, after all, one of our world champions. Amauri is not needed. He needs to find some eastern European or Asian country to join as the token Brazilian.

A five-match ban could be the best thing that's ever happened to Antonio Cassano, as Susy Campanale warns he must face his psychological problems
The phrase heard throughout Antonio Cassano's career is: "We must not judge him, but rather understand him." Now we understand him all too well – the kid's got serious problems. There's another thing, he's no kid anymore. Has anyone noticed the boy from Bari Vecchia, the child prodigy of the Roma and Italy squad, will turn 26 in four months? This is an age where you take responsibility for your life, your career and especially your actions.
He had a tough childhood, but so did a lot of people and what's more they can hold their temper, without the added bonus of a job they love that pays millions and provides endless adoring crowds ready to boost self-esteem at a moment's notice.
It was always said Cassano needed the right environment to flourish, one that supported him and treated him as a 'special one' rather than part of the pack of stars. He has that exact situation at Sampdoria and it has done wonders for his football, but last weekend's shameful scenes prove it'll never be enough. He could have an entire squad built around him and win the Ballon d'Or, yet he'd still burst into a tantrum at the slightest setback. Football has done all it can for Cassano, it's time for a professional mental health expert to salvage what remains of this pure talent.
As for calling him up for the Nazionale in time for Euro 2008, that would be utterly suicidal for Roberto Donadoni and even the biggest FantAntonio fans know it. On Sunday he had to be dragged off the pitch by teammates and opponents alike, as everyone fought to keep the Italian starlet under control for his own good. In Serie A everyone knows Cassano is liable to lose it, so opposition teams do everything possible to avoid infuriating him.
Would other nations be so understanding in the pressure cooker situation of a European Championship? It'd be the easiest way to defeat Italy in one simple move – provoke Cassano and get him sent off. We know it wouldn't take much to set him off, just a funny look could probably do it.
At least he has taken the first step in realising rather quicker than usual that he was wrong to react that way. Sampdoria must also be commended for clamping down on his behaviour rather than the customary mollycoddling. Maybe this final blow-out will be a turning point for Cassano, but it's surely the end of his Euro 2008 ambitions too.

Italy Without Buffon & Amelia For Spain Friendly?

Italy have a huge goalkeeping problem ahead of next week’s friendly with Spain, as both Gianluigi Buffon and Marco Amelia are set to miss the game.
Current number one Buffon has been struggling with recurring back problems for quite sometime now. The shot-stopper requires regular rest between games in order to recover, and is unlikely to play against Spain considering the fact he will have already played three games in seven days for Juventus.
Buffon’s understudy Amelia would have come in as a replacement; however he has been ruled out of action for around 35 days with an ankle injury.
This leaves Azzurri boss Roberto Donadoni with a real conundrum over who to pick between the sticks at Elche's Martinez Valero Stadium.
Roma’s Gianluca Curci has barely featured in 2008 as he is understudy to Alexander Doni. The same goes for Sevilla’s Morgan De Sanctis, who finds himself behind Andres Palop.
The chances of Christian Abbiati earning a recall are virtually zero following his outburst against Marco Amelia several weeks ago.
The two main options, according to the Corriere dello Sport, are Torino’s Matteo Sereni, and Inter veteran Francesco Toldo.
Sereni has been in fine form this season for Torino, and there have been a number of calls in the Italian press for him to be selected.
Toldo meanwhile is seen as the safer option, due to his age and international experience.
Whoever does get the nod to play against Spain next Wednesday is widely expected to be named as Italy’s third-choice goalkeeper, behind Buffon and Amelia, at Euro 2008.
