We are going to get Cicinho guys. I am pretty sure of it right now. Listen Maro, yes, I favor Italian players but this guy would be a very good addition and Chivu will only be a memory. Perhaps this may work out in our favor like the Samuel transfer did 4 years ago. We all collectively blew a gasket when he was sent to Real Madrid in the prime of his career. Enter Chivu, and the rest is history. Juan and Cicinho? That's pretty damn good if you ask me. It seems Rosella may make liars of us after all.

We have to admit that Roma has a rich history with regard to Brazilian players. These guys end up living in Italy after their careers and have unofficial roles with the club. I read last month that Aldair would like to either be a coach or an executive with Roma. Also, these Brazilians become beloved players at Roma.

roma probably have an even richer brazilian than we do. prior to leonardo, i think we only had altafini and sani who were notable. cicinho was a player we were after too, so he has a lot of upside. the only negative about cicinho coming to italy would be that his name would be pronounced cheecheen'yo.

I hope you're right, Avvocato. You know I said a while ago that there were terms on which the sale of Chivu might make considerable sense; my problem, of course, is just that Chivu is one of my favourite players. I also struggle to accept that this club wasn't in a position to hang onto Chivu and to buy Cicinho in the first place, thereby hanging onto an established and impressive centre-back partnership and adding an exciting right back to the mix. Still, if Juan offers us just a little bit more with his extra height (and pace?), then he may prove to have been a very shrewd acquisition and I don't think there's any doubt that Cicinho would suit Spags's style of play. There is also an argument that Chivu will benefit from Inter's style more than from ours - they play a much deeper line at the back which leaves the centre backs much less exposed since they always have a pair of central midfielders sitting pretty close in front of them. This is perfect for players who can read the play well but who lack a yard of pace. Materazzi, I think, would be a disaster in any side which wanted to play a high back-line. In Inter's system, though, or as Lippi had the Azzurri playing in the WC, he can flourish. The problem with playing a deep backline, of course, is that it makes the transition from defence to attack much slower and much more difficult. This is one of the reasons I find Inter quite a hard team to watch despite the wealth of attacking quality they have at their disposal. They only look to get out of difference quite directly, as Rube did under Crapello. It is the exact opposite of our fluid approach. Chivu may yet get exposed when defending deep because he lacks a little bit of height. Juan and Mexes may prove to be a less accomplished pair but also a more effective one for us - my worry comes largely in terms of our ability to build from the back, but we shall have to wait and see.

man utd has a buy-back option for g.rossi when he went to villareal.

does this mean they can buy him back whenever man utd want? or its just a first refusal if villareal decide to sell rossi?
